I checked mine as well, same diameter.

Could it be the COP bracket?
  3. Congrats, looking forward to more pics. Enjoy it!
  4. Yep, that's exactly why I replaced mine a year ago.
  5. If it hasn't sat for any length of time and is nearly a daily driver I would go for it. Just bring some tools and all fluids just in case, plus what everyone else has said. Do you have pics of it? Sometimes pics may show a different story. Make sure battery is fully charged and alternator is charged I would imagine you are taking the interstate 5 or 99. If it were the 101 you would be passing thru Ventura and could make it a pit stop. We could check things out before you made the 400 mile trek, as long as I'm in town then. Good luck and keep us posted.

For sure some pics especially in the rust prone areas. Maybe a short video of it running as well.

Only bling I have is the GOLD lettering on my Duralast Gold series battery.
  9. And you can buy a defective one also. Guess how I know?

And it looks like the factory wire schematic is showing the black link reversed as well (?)

My 5/77 is this exact way.

This is exactly how my 5/77 is set up as well.
  13. I wondered the same thing but forgot to ask.
  14. I saw that one. 5 hours away. Too busy to go, unfortunately.
  15. And were available in almost every wrecking yard. I used to love to walk thru them collecting parts here and there. Should have picked more.
  16. Kinda hard to believe. Not saying you didn't. I have been searching for awhile for body parts, let alone a whole car, and haven't come across anything that cheap. That was salvageable anyway. Good luck with your search.
  17. Okay, I jumped the gun and assumed you installed the "new" one, sorry. Carry on.
  18. Factory setting is 10 degrees BTDC. At idle. You need to check your vacuum source, make sure you have good vacuum for the vacuum advance to work. Also, have you checked all the things that were recommended to you? Vacuum advance plate, etc. I find it hard to believe you're not getting any advance. So check the things again that were recommended to you. How did you go about checking advance? Just curious. If you have a vacuum pump, apply a small amount of vac to check the movement of the vacuum plate with the new vac can in place.
  19. So nice and shiny. I do like the color.
  20. Did ya get dizzy?

Yeah, I remember those prices too!

That's all it is, a friction fit.
  23. rcb280z replied to wheee!'s post in a topic in Build Threads
I was able to wiggle mine loose with the cable end, screwed on just by a couple threads. IIRC
  24. Yeah there is a lot of rust in there. If it were me I would take it apart and clean it up, lube it, etc. Too much rust IMO.
  25. I would also make sure you test this as per Zed Head.
