  1. I don't recall exactly when I removed my leaky damper, maybe 3 years ago? Anyway, no issue's here but then again besides it being an "anti-vibration" device what else is it there for. I don't recall. I can see the pointer in my fuel pressure gauge bouncing ever so slightly.

Wow, those look great! Manual or electric? And was it easy to wire up?

    That's a Damn shame!

I agree. I ran them on my 77 for 3 years, IIRC, when I was in Nevada. Loved them! And that was in the year 2000. Kept the EFI just in case and a good thing I did. When we came back to CA they told me I had to reinstall the EFI. Boy was I disappointed. I miss them.
  5. He even made one to work for my 77 280. Been working for several years now.
  6. I hope it finds a good home. Very nice looking Anniversary edition.
  7. Yep. ^^^^ Don't get rid of anything emissions related. And if it's broke you'll need to fix it before attempting a smog check. Lots a great advise above. Follow it. Also make sure your battery is either fully charged or a new one. And a can of starting fluid if she doesn't want to start after completing the above steps.

Wow, R.I.P. Loved Smokey and the Bandit, and Gator. I think those were my favorites.
  9. I like the bmw cohiba brown interior for the seats and door panels. Would look great with the green. I always said that if I had a green Z the interior would be the cohiba brown.
  10. Looking good so far. Are you going with a different color other than black for the interior upholstery, carpet, door panels, etc.?
  11. Boy I bet that's a fun car to drive.

Makes perfect sense. Maybe the place that rebuilds it will sleeve it for me. Thanks for the info Charles.

The groove is on the outside of the "snout" for lack of proper name. It might be called the "hub". it fits inside the front main seal. You can see it, it's a shinny groove. I was thinking I would have to send it in for rebuild.

A few months back I had to replace my harmonic balancer on my 77 280z with an aftermarket one. I damaged my stock one reinstalling it after replacing a leaky front main. It's in my "Tackling 2 leaks, rad and front main" thread. Since then I have acquired a stock one from a 75. I would like your opinion on the condition of it from the pics I loaded. Do you think I should have it rebuilt due to the crack in the rubber? Also just noticed a groove in the snout. I measure 1.88 inches above and below the grove and 1.86 inside the groove. I'm thinking the groove isn't going to cause a problem but want your opinion. And not sure I should use it with the crack in the rubber. If you guys feel the same I'll send it off to be rebuilt. I'm not racing it. Just some spirited driving occasionally. Thanks
  15. I was just wondering the same thing Dave. And you would think #2 and #3 would show signs of burning lean or cleaner than the other plugs if the injector flow is off. I could be wrong. This is a challenging one for sure. kinser86 is running some thorough diagnostics though. Don't give up on it. Plenty of knowledgeable members on this site to help ya

Agree with ZH, more info is needed. Your HC's are WAY out of wack. And the CO's are a little high. It's been my experience that, if the engine is in good shape, by the time you get the CO's in check it may not be enough to lower HC's. I've seen it increase as a matter of fact if the vacuum advance isn't working and the engine and catalytic converter are tired. So what is the timing at, do you know? I had high HC's (800-900 IIRC) and replaced the cat. It did the trick. But everything else was in order. If you need a cat make sure its CARB approved or you'll fail again. There are so many things that can make these cars fail emissions. You have your work cut out for you and if you don't feel comfortable doing any of the work find a mechanic that knows these cars. Check with your local Zcar club for recommendations.
  18. I would definitely put the AFM back to where it was when you bought it. And then install the potentiometer. Play with that and see if you can get her to run better. Like everyone is saying, check fuel pressure and look for vacuum leaks. I like Zed Heads test of running the idle screw all the down. But if you do have vacuum leaks they may be hard to find if you can't keep her running. I've been known to unscrew and lift the oil fill cap just a little to test for vacuum leaks. If there is no change or very little change you may have vacuum leaks. I didn't see this anywhere but have you pulled the plugs to see how they are burning? That will also tell you a lot.
  19. Good luck finding a Z in a CA junk yard. I haven't seen any for a good 10 years.

zcardepot has the driver side only. I believe they are the only one with it in stock. So I still need the right side.

I can also. Better than looking at a severally cracked dash like mine. When I installed a full face on mine it was a daily driver. And my cracks ran down the front of the dash and into the gauge pods so a dash mat was out of the question. And as long as its replaced with a new dash when convenient, some day, hopefully. Every time I turn around I'm spending money on the house. Just went thru a $5100.00 re-pipe. Not fun! Could have bought a new dash 6 or 7 times with that money. Anyway........

This is what I was hoping he would tell us, whether it is unplugged or not

If you installed new injectors you should have already replaced the seals as well. Why did you have to install new gaskets? Did you have the engine torn apart, did you have vacuum leaks? What prompted you to do this work if it was running before? Need more info from you. Just noticed your other post. So you had an oil leak....so I understand the pan gasket. Intake gasket...why? What is etc.? Need to know what gaskets you changed.

And are you referring to the injector seals?

Can you post pics of what you are talking about, I'm not following you.
