1157 bulb sockets
Nice find SteveJ. I have been laying here in bed (sick with pneumonia) looking at the ones I bought and wondering if I could modify them. But if the ones you bought are a direct fit then I'm sold. Going to order me some. Is there a difference between the 240, 260, or 280? Im assuming not.

Restoring a 1977 280z! (My first z car)
I'd get rid of it too. Just more things to go wrong. Probably doesn't work anyway.

1157 bulb sockets
Bummer. I was really hoping they would work without any fuss. I'll wait to hear whether or not you think its worth modifying.

1157 bulb sockets
Yeah I think the one I posted a pic of will work. Even has the gasket like the stock one has. I'm going to order them now and will post results when I get them and install them.

1157 bulb sockets
I think I'm going to order them from Amazon just because I'm curious. And if I don't like what I see then maybe we can talk about what you have Jim. Trying to find a good replacement for all.

Yeah I saw those but they are only 2 wire. I need a 3 wire.

1157 bulb sockets
I'm in need of an 1157 bulb socket for my left brake light on my 77 280. Been searching, not very long, and have found one at Amazon but am not sure it will fit. Everyone else I have tried has been out or just do not carry them. Anyone else use the aftermarket ones like this or have another one to suggest? I might be able to repair the one I have but if I can't I will need a replacement.

Just stuff a few rags under it and be fast about it. You will loose a little coolant. Leave your rad cap in place, it will help. The less air the system intakes the less coolant you'll loose. There is a brass washer so be careful not to drop it. There is nothing better than the cold start system when it is functioning properly. Trouble shoot and fix the problem and you'll be happy. Still keep in mind that just because we have similar issues it doesn't mean this is your problem. Check everything. There are very knowledgeable members so take what they recommend seriously.

280Z Difficulty starting
A little late reading this post but my 77 starts the same way as far as the 2 to 3 times cranking goes. Used to hear a loud click sound when the CSV was working but have not lately. So I removed the thermo time switch and stuck it in the freezer for about ten minutes, put it back in the housing and my Z started right away. No 2 to 3 attempts at it. Also could hear that loud click letting me know it was working. I think you should test your thermo time system. I haven't had time to troubleshoot mine yet. Just did that quick freezer test. It's the only time I have issues with starting my Z, when it's cold as in sitting for several hours over night. Once started it runs fine right? It's what mine does. When it started this 3 months ago I thought I was having fuel pressure issues but was not. Worth looking at. Just my 2 cents. Just looked at the videos again and its almost identical to mine. Doesn't mean it has the same problem as mine but again I think its worth looking at.

Yeah I figured you wouldn't want to part with it. I am looking for one now that I can refurb.

That is a beautiful Z! Are you going to keep the original steering wheel? I'm thinking of replacing my stock 280Z wheel with a 240 wheel. Hint, hint.

Finally replica door panels for 77-78 z's
The link shows something different. Not what you have pictured. I see it now. Didn't show up the first time I looked at the link. They are sharp!

E88 head in a Series 1 car?
"Quote" you can add 5 ounces of acetone to add a couple octane points. Can you run the acetone if you have a catalytic converter? I don't have an E81 or 88 head but with running as lean as I do I get a little pinging at full throttle with 91 octane. Never heard of adding acetone.

Mystery clunk
WOW! usually I notice that. Anyway....

Mystery clunk
Diseazd, when you say "clunk", when were you hearing it? I have a clunk sound now but not all the time. Mostly when making right turns, when there is less torque, while driving over uneaven rough roads, and those little round dome shapped lane dividers (don't recall the proper name). Trying to find where mine is coming from but already checked everything mentioned and then some. Even looked for a busted strut.

Interior door sill scuff plate for '78 280Z
I have been looking for the same thing. The vinyl is peeling up on mine. Its the piece that acts as a transition strip for the carpet by the "sill" plate correct? Also half covers the weatherstrip. If so I have seen ones for the 75-76 but not 77-78 like we are looking for. If you find a source please post it. I was thinking of removing the vinyl and spraying them with rustoleums hammerite finish. Mine has that texture look to them now.

stumped
You must be wanting to keep everything "stock"? ZedHead had a good solution to an expensive part in his post (number 5). Would have saved you a lot of money. Everyone that has done the switch is happy with the results. I'm just waiting for mine to go so I can try it. Plus I'm just realizing you said a "new" ICM. Did you actually find a new one? I was under the impression new ones are long gone.

Hmm...road trip! My Z should be road worthy by then. Sure wish I could have been there to meet all you Z experts. I'll just have to go to the next one.
