Poor Gas Mileage - '77 280Z
Take pics of the plugs and post them. Let us see what they look like.

It's the Little Things That Count
Mine too. People take a double look at mine when they see the 280Z badges. Looks like a 240. If I had it to do over I would have left the original hood and bumpers on. Hmm....another future project. Need to get FI and engine issues sorted first.

Help me decide...black or chrome bumpers?
"quote" having looked at the pictures a few more times, I think I've changed my mind. Funny you say that. Mine were painted the same body color of my car. Then the front got damaged and I have a black primer on it now. I think it depends, for me anyway, on vehicle color. So for your's Matt chrome will probably go well with white. Mine looks good painted the body color. Chrome I didn't like and the black I don't like on my Z.

Fuel Tank Hard Line Plugged
What patcon said. Just replace the hard line. You'll be glad you did. Even if you were able to get the existing line opened enough I'd be afraid I didn't get all the gunk out and now you have all sorts of other problems.

Putting my '78 into hibernation for a while
The only other thing that comes to mind is the fuel. Drain the tank completely or add stabil fuel stabalilzer if you don't drain it.

My Datsun 280Z "Rustoration"
Ouch that's right...you had them powder coated. Even if you decided to replace the one rim do you think the powder coat will match the others well enough? I'd be afraid it wouldn't.

At least it is an easy fix.

Oil pressure uneven
Interesting, never ever seen anything like that. Had no idea it was available.

Siteunseen can you elaborate on "condom" . I never heard this before.

Paint done, trim installed, bumpers on.......
That's a fine car you have there Andrew. Enjoy the ride! Thanks Cliff. At $90 a pop I'll have to wait until I get my mechanical stuff done.

Paint done, trim installed, bumpers on.......
Did they make a side graphics like that for the 280's? I like that look.

New bushings - car seems to slide back & forth - bumps, shifting
Check your differential mount.

Datsun Parts LLC - gone to the dark side?
Good luck. Seriously. It would be great to have a good solid vendor for this market. You're one of the few, so you can milk it until it dies or build it up strong. Amen to that! I have not bought anything from you, Mr Allen, due to some assembly of your parts. I'm glad we, this forum, have experienced engine builders/assemblers that can worn us, like me, about poor work. With that said I will be rebuilding my L28 sometime later this year and will need a reputable shop. I would like to be able to depend, hopefully, on a shop like yours to get my work done. You are only about 1.5 hours away from me. There is no other shop around me that knows anything about these engines. Would be nice to hear from members that have had good results with Datsunparts LLC.

75 EFI on a 77 Z.
Haha! is that why it won't start, too funny Steve. Just realized I neglected to answer your questions in post 3. 1. Yes there was a 75 version of smog, but I am using my 77 intake with the smog equip. 2. Is answered with question #1 3. Which means it will pass a visual. 4. Yes, relay is being supplied with the transplant. as well as the dropping resisters. I think all years of 280z used the same dropping resistors. Only one "set" listed on my microfiche. Thanks for the laugh, I needed it.

75 EFI on a 77 Z.
....and there are no external components like tach or speedo issues with the EFI swap is there?

75 EFI on a 77 Z.
Perfect. Thanks guys and gal. The intake manifold I will not use, keeping my 77 intake intact. This way I can keep the EGR which I need for visual inspection. I'll use everything else from the AFM to ECU and the dropping resisters, EFI relay, etc. I'll have to look at the wiring schematic to see if there are differences on the dropping resisters between the years. Maybe there isn't. Would make it easier for me and the person I'm buying it from. Unless someone already knows this info. BTW, anyone recall why there are 3 and 4 mounting bolts for the AFM? Mine has 3 bolts and the 75 AFM I'm buying has 4. FastWomen fuel pump shutoff is a non-issue. Correct, the safety switch is in the AFM on my 77 CO yes a perfectly running 75 system is for sure better than what I have!

75 EFI on a 77 Z.
ZedHead, I did think about the altitude switch. I'm at sea level so the only time it is working is as you increase altitude so no worries there. SteveJ, Nothing visually different between the 2. Yes the efi relay is different (2 different ones available) but if I use the 75 with all its other components it should be fine. Thanks guys.

Yeah thats pretty awesome Matt! Lots of fun.

75 EFI on a 77 Z.
I have a chance to buy a 75 EFI "matching" system complete for my 77. The only reason I'm considering using the 75 is because my 77 EFI has been butchered by previous owners and I have searched a long time for a complete 77 and have come up with "0". This 75 system looks to be in really good shape. Harness doesn't look butchered, AFM cover is still siliconed on, can tell it hasn't been removed, etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but as long as its a complete 75 system it should fit my 77 right? As long as I use all the 75's system I should be good. I'm pretty sure this is correct but verification would be nice. Thanks in advance.
