  1. Sad day for sure. R.I.P. Mr. K. Will remember you every time I look at my Z.
  2. Im curious what you find out on this one Zed Head. If they even call you.
  3. Ask him if you can visit his shop. Bet he says he doesn't have one.

I used to be a Hagerty customer. Up til about 2 years ago I had my 77 insured through them. Received a letter one day prompting me to call, IIRC. They began asking me questions like; do I drove it daily. I said no. Told them maybe 2 weeks out of the month, at the most. Then I was asked how many people live in the household. I said 2. How many cars do you own, I said 2. They cancelled my policy because we didn't have 2 daily drivers outside of the Z! Said I couldn't prove I don't drive it daily. Pissed me off. I really don't drive it daily. Told them I don't need a 3rd vehicle for work. I work out of my home. Had them for 8 years. Now I pay more for less coverage through Sate Farm. So unless they have changed........
  5. Got down to 2.17 a couple weeks ago but is now up to 2.58 already! Thats in 2 weeks!
  6. Or as a flask with your favorite spirits. Wouldn't that look funny.

Did you have a leak of some sort between 3rd and 4th cylinders on the side of the block? I can't really make out whats going on there but it looks different from the rest of the block. Wow, you should really consider filling those cracks site...
  8. So cool to see how the "Z" is popular world wide.
  9. Pink Floyd said it best " Hello, is there anybody in there"? All kidding aside, no I have not wondered what to do with the empty tubes. I guess because I just throw them away. Seems like the right thing to do. Refilling caulk tubes is common with professional house painters. They tint the caulking (sometimes) to match the paint color.
  10. Cool. Wish I could rebuild my L6 that quick.
  11. Very cool! Can't wait.
  12. How goes the project Haz?
  13. Welcome, nice Z! I have a 77 as well. Post some more pics. Maybe of the interior and under the hood.

I thought it was good practice to replace it all if you are going to replace any of it (?)

UPDATE So no vacuum leak at the BCDD, That I can tell. Sprayed some starter fluid around it and there was no change in idle. I was told by a mechanic that I could just remove the plunger and spring from inside the solenoid and that would temporarily fix the problem. I did that but after driving it around I decided to re install the plunger and spring. The reason: It drove fine, just decelerated differently and sounded different. Decelerated faster to a stop (in gear) and the exhaust had a deeper tone to it. But the worst part was the smell of burning oil. I remember Blue mentioning in a post that without the BCDD it would cause oil to be sucked up past the rings. At least I believe thats what he said. It has an oil burning smell anyway but it is very noticeable without the BCDD solenoid functioning. So I'm not a candidate for the BCDD removal. And from what I have experienced they should not be removed. But that opens up another problem for those who's BCDD's are no longer functioning at all. The next step for me would be to remove the speedo and replace it. FSM shows an amplifier and speed sensor test. That has to be where my issue is. But because I have a dash cap installed I'm in no hurry! Beside's, it's an intermittent issue and will be difficult to find. So for now I'm just going to drive it and not worry about it.
  16. Ditto on what was said about the AFM. I have learned my lesson. Has taken way to long to get it adjusted right after chasing my tail trying to fix a vacuum leak that I didn't realize I had! Had a crack in my pcv hose.
  17. You are right Chas, it would be a good thread. Haven't made up my mind yet but when I do I will post everything. Wish I knew what effect it would have on emissions before diving into it.
  18. $2.45 for premium at Costco here in Ventura.
  19. IIRC the last time I removed a cam (1995) I just dropped the rad down a couple inches. Of course after loosening the rockers. Sorry Colten, didn't mean to jack your thread man.
  20. I like that idea but that is a lot of work. I'd rather change out the cam then pull the head.

Exact fit for my 77 also.
  22. I was just curious because I have a really good P79 head in my garage and my N47 needs attention that is on my block right now. I was thinking about throwing the P79 on while I rebuild my N47. It sounds as if I would only lose a couple of horse's if I install the P79. The CR of the N47 is 8.3 but I don't recall what the P79 is (?) Just thinking out loud here but I could throw a performance cam in the P79, and then when it's time for the emission testing I could put the stock cam in, maybe?
  23. In reality, what would the power "loss" be if installing a P79 or P90 on a dished piston block? Would it really be that noticeable? I realize the compression ratio drops slightly but what does that mean in terms of power loss?
  24. Cool, and a working rear defrost?
