  1. Definitely Zed. I am kinda concerned only because he understood I needed my AFM back at a certain time for my emissions test. I'll give it a few more days and then try to contact him via phone. I'm just hoping for the best. Like I said, I hope there is nothing wrong and he is just busy. Maybe I'm being paranoid?
  2. Im not sure. I know what did work for me and I don't have it back yet.
  3. Well I sent Lenny my backup AFM so he could get the readings he needed and the last time I heard from him was 3 weeks ago. He hasn't responded to my last 2 PM's nor has he posted on his thread in over 3 weeks. I hope everything is ok, that nothing bad has happened but he knew I needed my backup AFM back for the emissions test I HAVE to have done this coming Saturday. Im starting to think the worst now. My AFM is junk and will not "lean out" enough to pass.

Everything seems good today. I am relaxing a bit now. No leaks after 2 trips in her. Fingers crossed.

So all is good, I thought. Drove the Z around then parked her in the garage and when I came back out a couple hrs later there was a softball sized puddle on the garage floor right under the radiator. My heart sank! I don't need this I thought to myself. Popped the hood and saw coolant on top of the radiator around the fill neck. Checked the cap and it was tight. Pressure tested the cap and it held (didn't take it beyond 15lbs). It is rated at 13lbs. Snooped around and couldn't find the source. Even made sure the overflow line was tight at the fill neck. Then I decided to remove the overflow line and blow through it. Well it was plugged! Guess what with? Yep, Bar's! Now I'm worried. What else is it going to plug up I wounder. I will probably think about it every time I drive it. I will try my best to stay optimistic though.

So everything seems to be good with the leak I used to have. Hope I don't jinx myself. I used the alumaseal and it seems to be working. I can actually see where the aluminum powder seeped out where the leak was and now looks and feels dry. I didn't think it would work. Glad it did. Will probably be pulling engine towards end of year so hope it lasts til then. It is a daily driver now.
  8. I have to have the dreaded CA emissions test done the beginning of June which is just around the corner and it would be a great testing time for the Hellfire IMO.
  9. Hey superlen, how goes the battle with the Hellfire? Still looking at June for a release date? Hope all is good with the family and you guys are getting some sleep now.

Im going to say electrical. Each time I raised the rpms the needle would sometimes raise accordingly and then stick. When I came to a complete stop I could tap on the face of the tach and the needle would sometimes drop.

No rag in the timing chain hole is what I gather from Blues pic.

Not around here where I am. I see all these flex fuel vehicles but I dont ever see any pumps.

Okay, I have no idea what is going on. Unless it is heat related but the Tach is working fine! It is about 18 degrees cooler around here. Guess I'll have to wait til it gets hot again to trouble shoot it.

Siteunseen and Mikes Z Car, I have been looking at this product also. I want to look at some reviews also.

Yeah I get that the car has to adjusted right also but like I said above "high mileage" engines is why the alcohol peaked my interest.
  17. rcb280z replied to rcb280z's post in a topic in Open Discussions
Yeah, Im thinking I will run hotter than normal. So Im not convinced the alcohol is the answer.
  18. rcb280z replied to rcb280z's post in a topic in Open Discussions
Yeah but I could drink the left overs SteveJ The pure grain alcohol that is
  19. rcb280z replied to rcb280z's post in a topic in Open Discussions
I have not done a pre-test but have considered it. The problem here is you are not allowed any adjusting during the pre test. So I would still not know if any adjustments I do to it will make it pass until I take it back. That could become a PITA you know? dj, I believe it is 90% alcohol.

Anyone use this in your gas tank to help pass "difficult" emissions? Supposedly the ratio is 1 part denatured alcohol to 4 parts 87 octane. And you need to run the tank down to almost empty, add a gallon of alcohol and 4 gallons of 87 on the same day of the smog test. After the test, fill the tank with high octane to dilute the alcohol. This is supposed to be for the older high mileage engines like mine. I have til the first week of June to get my 77 smogged so I may try it.
  21. I have a rebuilt one in my garage somewhere....will post a pic of what Im talking about so you can see it. It eliminates that plastic cam.
  22. Zed, were any of the parts broken like the plastic cam that the 3 ball bearings seat in? The Breaker plates are no longer available if I remember correctly. That cam I just mentioned seems to be the only thing I ever have problems with. The rebuilt dizzy's use some sort of "bushing" to take the place of the Plastic piece.

How many condensers are there? There is the one for the alternator and that is the only one I can think of at the moment without digging thru the manual. Which I do not feel like doing after the day I've had. I know, no excuse
  24. rcb280z replied to rcb280z's post in a topic in Interior
Capt, what I have discovered in the last 12 hrs is in the am the tach works fine, late in the day (5pm) it doesnt work. It has been hotter than normal but cant see how that can have a factor. It tries to work, very slow reaction to rpms. Off to work I go now. Will see what happens today with it.
  25. rcb280z replied to rcb280z's post in a topic in Interior
Capt, yes it is the tach and NO there is no refund due. It is a used part. I knew I was taking a chance anyway. but thanks for the offer :classic: You are gentleman and a scholar.
