Looking good so far. Now if you just had replacement lines......
  2. I have also had similar symptoms with my 77. I'm beginning to think it's the fuel I put in my tank. During this time of the year there seem's to be a lot of "crap" added to fuels sold here in CA. At one point I was running regular unleaded 87 octane and now run 91 octane. The fuel injected Z's, in my experience, seem to like this octane better. It still has the additives in it (during certain times of the year) but mine seems to run and start better. Come to think of it I have not had that issue for a few months now. Try a higher octane if you are not now. Not saying that is going to solve the issue but worth a try. I have all new injectors (year old), connectors are clean, heat shield in place, etc etc. Still had the problem. After running a tank of 91 octane and almost forgot, ran a bottle of octane booster, and I haven't experienced the problem since.

Gauge is off, go with voltmeter readings. Everything looks good.

Chas, mine is a 77 as well. Production date 05/77. Should be the same as yours. Keep me posted on how they work on your 77. Bob

In 2014 I want it completely gone, then the beer should follow- hopefully. Happy New Year to all Z Owners. Amen to that!

Happy New Year! You crack me up Oiluj, only 7 lbs. At least you don't have to lose 40 lbs like me . That's my resolution....to lose 40 lbs and to drive my 77 more often. Went for a drive in her yesterday and wondered then why I don't drive her much anymore! And...I need to relax more, getting stressed out over everything lately it seems.
  9. Try this. http://www.thezstore.com/store/graphics/00000001/large307291.jpg

    Any luck yet?

Check to make sure you have 12V at the injector connectors

Ok I need some sleep. I started to ask about fuel pressure and completely overlooked 38 pounds of pressure! Are the plugs wet when you pull them? If you are getting fuel to the cylinder and you have spark it should at least try to start. Is it at least doing this? If not, the injectors are not firing. Just because you have fuel pressure it doesn't mean the injectors are firing.

I love the thought of being able to drive my 77 280 without having to make adjustments almost every time I drive her! Now fine tuning is another story. That would be enjoyable. I swear my ECU floats from lean to rich and back.

Chas, you installed the larger flywheel as well right?
  15. Again, I second FastWomen. Damn your fast on those keys FastWomen.
  16. My pleasure.
  17. Hey Michael, looking at pic #3 you have the thermostat in upside down. You didn't button her up that way did you?

I second that FastWomen! Go Lenny! Wish there was something more I could do besides cheer Lenny on.

That's what I'm talking about Lenny, "plug-n-play" all the way for me Nothing complicated Hmm....knew I shouldn't have made that statement regarding price. Oh I see FastWomen, the things that I heard referred to as "chips" on occasion. Thanks for the insight.

Cost is really no issue for me, I think I want to believe it will be worth it to have no smogging issues with my car. And of course any improvement it would make would be a plus.

You guys really seem to be having lots of fun with this. Wish I understood electronics a lot more than I do. I'm following this because it looks like there is hope for my Z's F.I., maybe? I Don't understand what "DIP ICs or what Tatalum cap's" are :stupid: So I'm not even going to pretend I know what you are talking about. But rest assured I'm going to google everything
  22. He is probably trying to support his crack habit!
  23. Just keep in mind that the F.I. on these cars are Temp and Resistance sensitive. Just a little out of the norm on either and you can easily have a lean or rich running condition. Like FastWomen said, check resisitance at connections. I usually check them all. Living here in CA it is hard to pass emissions testing and each time I have mine tested I know if I had not cleaned all electrical connectors I would probably fail testing. So in a way it is good because it forces me to check them often. It is a chore to keep my Z running clean enough for CA. I have to say it is not always happy running this way too. Dan, does the old AFM have an anti-backfire valve in the flap? And was the AFM the original one to the car? I have a 77 and mine has the anti-backfire valve and there has been discussions here as to when (year) the valve showed up. I'm trying to find out if mine is original or not. BTW, nice Z.
