  1. Ran early SU's on my 77 280 in Vegas for 4 years and loved them. Wish I could do it again. Came back to CA and well.....had to take them off.
  2. I've seen those on the 280zx's. Maybe try one those manuals.

Makes me think I should replace mine as a preventive measure. Let us know if the repair works and where you obtained the power resistor. Could probably find it at Radio Shack?

Awesome pics. Did you get your headlights from Black Dragon?
  5. I have a 77. It is "almost" identical to your 78 and I didn't remove anything. I read the FSM then ran tests from the FSM and then posted my issues, that I couldn't solve on my own, with details of the problems. That way members could help me. Plus search the "EFI" thread. There is lots of good info there. Posting pics are also a good thing. Obviously the car doesn't run with all the sensors and "actuators?" missing. Welcome to the site.

That's a good price. Let us know how you like it.

I have Hagerty also. $144 per year $5000.00 value. You are limited to the amount of mileage and how you use the vehicle. Call them up.
  8. Wish I had that kind of time for my 77.

Hmm, I could help you out with this issue....see if I take both then no more eeny, meeny, miny, moe for you. Just saying.
  12. 2 days ago I was cruising around at the beaches here and I heard someone yell out "Nice Porsche'! I was looking around for the Porsche until I realized they were looking at me. I yelled back saying it is a Datsun to set them straight! I just laughed to myself.

Outstanding work Torby!! Just one question, when can I ship you my 280? But then again I would miss out on what I like to. Great work man!
  14. Aaaaah, thanks I needed that!
  15. Wade, you didn't say what condition your fuel filter was in after you changed it....was it full of crud? Have you thought about pulling the fuel rail and pressurizing it to look for leaks. That's how I found out ALL of mine were leaking. Maybe you'll find more than one injector leaking. You definitely have a cold start issue which is another problem. But Im curious what you find on the "flooding" issue.

Haha, Starsky & Hutch was a great show in the day. dltalfa, I feel your pain. Its the same as doing minor mods to the exterior of the Z like I did 20 years ago. Now I wish I had left it original. Take some painters tape and tape them on one side for the day. Maybe that will help you decide.
  17. beermanpete, that is a negative on any problem. The reason I even decided to check voltage is because my alternator is making a noise now (sometimes). I thought it was starting to go out on me. 100% sure no conversion was ever done. I have owned the car since 1985. 13.7 volts at WOT could be a problem right, when I need a hotter spark to burn the extra fuel? Or am I just being paranoid. Thanks
  18. I have researched threads here on what battery voltage should be and now I am more confused than before. I have a 77 280. We all know it is externally regulated. I get 13.76 volts at the battery during idle. Now where I get confused is when you increase the engine rpm's shouldn't the battery voltage also increase? Iv'e read here that it should be 13.8 at 2500 rpms and I also read here where it should be 14.7 at 2500 rpm's. Which is correct? My battery holds pretty steady at 13.7 volts through out the rpm band, no changes. Help me understand. Thanks
  19. Here are some numbers you can look up 24011-N4700 , -N4701, -N7700. Got these from my microfiche. Hope it helps.
  20. Left and right fenders complete with headlight cases, maybe rust free. Also the engine cowling. Might as well add the inspection lids.
  21. For now I just push in slightly on the door and then open it. Seem's to work okay.
  22. Mine runs in the middle with same radiator and 180 deg. thermostat. Why are you running a 160 deg. thermostat?
  23. Crank angle sensor
  24. To everyone else, I am just trying to stick with the MSA WS because its already on, and I paid $$ for them. If, in the end, I can't get the damn doors to close correctly I'll return them to MSA (if they are willing to take them back) and buy me some Kia Sportage WS. They won't take it back. I'll be waiting for the results. I may be going the Kia sportage route myself. Getting tired of trying to find solutions to MSA's WS.
  25. I hate the 2 key way. One day I will change all locks out. Nice clean 78! Wish mine looked as good.
