The Lime Green Machine Restoration Thread - 1972 240Z
Looking good. I remember when I did mine. I polished the cover. It still looks good. I'm guessing you replaced the seals while it was out.

heat shield for rcb280z
Hey Cliff, I was able to install mine without removing the throttle return spring. However, I did remove the dizzy.....it allowed me to maneuver the heat shield in that area. Also removed the heat shields from the brake master and the pcv hose. No problem after that. The thing has been off so long I almost forgot how it went back.

Full dash cover installation help
....also, you mention "air gap" on top. Does that mean if you were wiping it down one day and pressed too hard that it could collapse in the center and now there is a permanent dent?

Full dash cover installation help
Looks good madkaw! That is the non-painted dash cap from American dash caps correct with "deep returns"? I had the MSA one that was black and it didn't blend very well with the surroundings. The deep returns are what made it impossible to remove my tach and speedo. It has lasted a long time though...17 years.

Purchasing 1975 280z please help (pics)
What does it look like under the car?, frame rails, floor pans, etc. I agree with everyone. Unless you are into parting out cars I would stay away from it. Plenty of good Z cars out there. Patience is a virtue. Too much to do to make this one right as far as cosmetics. Who knows what it needs mechanically.

Wish I paid closer attention!
Bryan, just the tach and speedo. Michael, I will look into that....thanks

Full dash cover installation help
Mike, can you tell if you will have any issues with tach or speedo removal? That is the issue I am having right now, not being able to remove either one through the front. I have the MSA one installed.

Funny you say that ktm. I was looking into Velcro today. Might be exactly what I go with. Will post results. Hopefully I can get to it soon!

Full dash cover installation help
madkaw, if you read my latest " wish I paid closer attention" thread you will see I have an issue right now with removing my tach and speedo. I have the full face cover in place and wished I had found another way to attach it. It is glued down with silicone. I tried to remove the tach again today with a couple thin shims and some oil and no luck! It actually sounded like it was starting to crack! I don't see one yet but it sounded like it. I may just remove the cap and re-install with some 3m double sided tape and hope it works. I don't have time right now to restore the dash or I would be doing that instead. Good luck and post results!

Wish I paid closer attention!
I followed the install instructions, like most probably did, that came with my cap. Mine included the silicone to glue it down. If I'm able to remove it completely without destroying it I will re-install another way....maybe with 3m double sided tape or something. Oh well, live and learn.

Wish I paid closer attention!
I was thinking of using my thin feeler gauges with a little 3 in 1 oil, so I am on the right tract. Thanks Zed Head.

Wish I paid closer attention!
I installed a full face dash cover a few years back. Wish I knew then what I found out today. I was going to pull all the gauges and remove the white faces I put on them. I want them back to original. But I can't get the tach or speedo out. They are hitting the lip of the full face dash cover as I try pulling them out. There is about a 1" lip all around the inside of the opening keeping me from pulling them all the way out. Anyone else have this issue and have a solution besides removing the dash cover? It is glued down.
