Don't mention it. Glad I could help. That's why we're all here!

Hi Saro. According to Discount Tire's calculator and my experience, a 215/50/16 tire would work fine. I ran 215/60/14's for a number of years on my '75 280z with no problems at all (the 215/60/14's are almost identicle to the 215/50/16's in height and width). I am using the dealer installed 14x6 slotted mag wheels with near 0 offset (need to confirm this). The height dimension (diameter) of the 215/50/16's is only about a third of an inch shorter than the original 195/70/14's that are stock to my car and they are almost an inch wider. That would keep your speedometer close to correct. Here's the calculator:http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos#row1

I'm sorry this happened there in London. My prayers are with you all and I hope to hear all you club members are alright! I'm sure all of us would like to see you all check in and confirm you are safe.

I thought it stood for the "National League" (baseball).

Sounds like a good find zman. Check around the club here to make sure your '72 doors will fit your '76. I seem to recall at least one discussion where it was found that there were some differences between the two year models. Don't forget to post pics!
  8. Is Ventura too far away?
  9. Did you check continuity of the fuse with a meter? Sometimes the fuse element will simply disconnect at one of the contact ends but will look like it's still functional. Also, try cleaning the fuse box contacts themselves. They're old and can corrode causing problems like this.

I saw this on Yahoo today. What a bummer! I would think this is like us in the states losing one of our landmarks.

That's a Porsche 914. My Lord you're quick Jason! I blinked and you got ahead of me.
  12. Hi 71-240Z, and welcome! What else do those woods near you have in them? Those kind of mods can be undone if at a later date you decided to go original. That's what the majority of us here tend to do. I'm a designer, so I won't hold that against you. Are you bragging or just being truthful? Most of us here do. Looks like a good starting point.

A '76 280ZX doesn't exist. The 280ZX was introduced in '79 and is a bigger, heavier car than the 240-280Z's. So, the seller has his wires crossed. If the car is a '76 280Z, the rust issues are the same as with the earlier Z's, including the hatch opening area above the taillights and inder the rear bumper at the corners. Also, I believe a 280Z is a less complicated car to trouble shoot for repairs and easier to work on. It has less "stuff" in the engine bay and under the dash to contend with. Good luck with this and let us know what you find. :cheeky:
  14. Hi Will. I think you meant to post this message here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?p=135964#post135964
  15. This may have something to do with this problem. It's a bit long but well worth the time. Montana - No Speed Limit Safety Paradox - 2001 UPDATE.zip
  16. If you're sitting OUTSIDE of the car on the driver's side, looking towards the motor, then the locknut needs to be turned clockwise to loosen it.
  17. I don't think Datsun offered a cassette player AM/FM 1n 1974. My dad bought his '75 280z fully optioned in Long Beach, Ca. and the optional radio had an 8 track tape player. In looking back, the first Z car I saw with a cassette player was in the '79 280zx and it was not incorporated into the radio. It was a seperate unit to the side of the radio.
  18. Excellent points made there Mr C.
  19. Well, I do still have the radio that came with the car when it left the dealer's lot. :paranoid:
  20. I chose 280z bone stock. You don't think having urethane bushings and an upgraded radio disqualifies me do you? :nervous: Hey Will. What is a 1977 280Z Alpha one GTO rebody? And is that the 280z you said you forgot?

They look like they were made for the car by the factory! Do you know who they're made by?
  22. It's like my plates on my other car reads...PAY ATTN. After all, my life depends on it. Anything beyond that is up to God to decide. I'd rather be driving a responsive car like my Z than some 4000 pound barge riding on a suspension made of marshmellows.
  23. Before you buy this car, get a compression check done on it. I bought a rebuilt ATK 280z engine through MSA about five years ago. After putting around 3k miles on it, it blew a head gasket. I had to have my Z mechanic fix the problem. On inspection of the parts in the engine, he discovered three badly pitted head bolts, which was the cause of the head gasket failure. He also informed me that they used an inferior head gasket. I contacted ATK concerning this problem and they told me the cause was pre-detonation, and that it wasn't their problem. My attorney told me I would have to sue them in their district, so I just ate the cost of repairs. I will NEVER buy an ATK engine again. BTW, pre-detonation is usally caused by carbon buildup in the cumbustion chamber (not a likely condition in a correctly rebuilt engine).
  24. No argument from me. National holidays here in the states are treated as pretty much as an excuse to go shopping. Pity :disappoin
