New Interior Panels
I found an ebay store that sells interior panels (black only) for Z car models from the 240 to 300zx. The seller claims they are new, and from the photos they appear to be. The the prices seem to be competitive compared to MSA (plus or minus) as well. Thought this might be a good backup/alternative place for these types of items. True or False
I recieved these statistics within an email from a friend today. Can anyone in Australia validate these figures? Since we in the states don't get anything in the news concerning information like this about foreign countries, I don't know if this is factual or a myth. [it has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent!). In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly. (Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!). While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in "successfully ridding Australian society of guns."] Thanks for any claification you guys can provide!

Rancher's dilemma
A successful rancher died and left everything to his devoted wife. She was a very good-looking woman, and determined to keep the ranch, but knew very little about ranching, so she decided to place an ad in the newspaper for a ranch hand. Two men applied for the job. One was gay and the other a drunk. She thought long and hard about it, and when no one else applied, she decided to hire the gay guy, figuring it would be safer to have him around the house than the drunk. He proved to be a hard worker who put in long hours every day and knew a lot about ranching. For weeks, the two of them worked, and the ranch was doing very well. Then one day, the rancher's widow said to the hired hand, "You have done a really good job and the ranch looks great. You should go into town and kick up your heels." The hired hand readily agreed and went into town one Saturday night. However one o'clock came and he didn't return. Two o'clock and no hired hand. He returned around two-thirty and upon entering the room, he found the rancher's widow sitting by the fireplace with a glass of wine waiting for him. She quietly called him over to her. "Unbutton my blouse and take it off," she said. Nervously, he did as she directed. "Now take off my boots." He did as she asked, ever so slowly. "Now take off my socks." He removed each gently and placed them neatly by her boots. "Now take off my skirt." He slowly unbuttoned it, constantly watching her eyes in the firelight. "Now take off my bra." With trembling hands he did as he was told and dropped it to the floor. Now," she said, "take off my panties." By the light of the fire, he slowly pulled them down and off. Then she looked at him and said, "If you ever wear my clothes into town again, you're fired."

Detailing Checklist
Concerning weatherstipping. On my '75 Z the weatherstripping around the doors are a "folded" style, somewhat like a closed V or U shape. I clean inside the fold as well as pulling the weatherstripping away from the body to get to the tight places, using a damp cloth or towel. If you have an air compressor, blow out the body joints, crevices, and emblems to prevent water drip marks and to eliminate standing water in joints.

Pictures of Custom Interiors
I like what you've done with the design and colors of the interior, zrush. Scott's portion is well done too. It's evident you two have put alot of thought, time, and money into this project. Is it strictly a show car? The treatment to the side markers is a nice touch. I'd like to see more shots of the interior if you have them! Now that you confessed to being the writer of most of your posts, I'd like to say that it is nice to have a woman's viewpoint/input here. Now I see why you enjoy the jokes as much as you do. So....do we refer to you as Mrs. Scott? And how will we know when it's you vs. Scott?

Wrong email address
A couple from Michigan decided to go to Florida to thaw out during one particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the very same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier. Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So, the husband left Detroit and flew to Miami on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day. The husband checked into the hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an e-mail to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without realizing his error, he sent the e-mail. Meanwhile.....somewhere in Alabama, a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a minister of many years who was called home to glory following a sudden heart attack. The widow decided to check her e-mail,expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she fainted. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read: To: My Loving Wife: I've Arrived ! Date: 16 November 2003 I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now and you are allowed to send e-mails to your loved ones. I've just got all checked in and I see that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then! Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was. P.S. Sure is hot down here!

[so what's you point?] My point is that there is an origin for the word “auto†and that it is Greek, as Z Kid also pointed out. [Mr. Auto (Herr Auto) invented Automobile.] I believe the person by the name of "Auto" you’re thinking of is actually Nikolaus August Otto of Germany. He is credited merely for building the first four-stroke engine in 1876, 107 years after French Army officer Captain Nicolas Joseph Cugnot built the first automobile. It was a three wheeled, steam-powered vehicle that carried four people (thanks again to Z Kid). Jurgon Auto didn’t exist as an automobile inventor. He doesn’t come up anywhere over the entire world wide web, except in the porn world. [Around here, dictionary definitions mean very little.] I seriously doubt that. From what I’ve noticed, most of the members “around here†are knowledgeable, educated, well-informed people who rely on the written (and defined) word as a basis for intelligent communication.

I am going to put them on my '75 280z that is completely dealer/factory stock. Well the radio isn't stock.:classic: I've seen on this site that it's not a good idea to go deeper than 4" with the backspacing unless you go with coilovers. So you haven't experienced any problems? If not, I wonder if it's because of differences with the 280z setup. BTW Diamonds 16" wheels are N/A.

Steve, are you running 15x8's on your 280z? What is the backspacing on them? Any mods to the fenders and/or suspension? I'll check out Diamond for 16" wheels. That is my preference, but hard to find in the 4x4-1/2" pattern.

Actually Victor, I'm not a cat hater. In fact, back in the smokin' 70's, I had a cat named Ray that liked to sit with me on the couch, get high, and watch TV on Saturdays. I just like humor at other species expense! LOL

Walter. I want to thank you for your comprehensive reply. Thorough and to the point! I love it. Not to minumize the other replies. All you guys have been very helpful/supportive. My Z has the dealer installed, aftermarket, aluminum slotted wheels still on it from when my dad bought it new. They were made by Western Wheel and have always been hard to balance since new. I remember my dad telling me about replacing brand new tires with different brands, the tire store shaving the tires to get them to balance, flipping the over, and on and on. Also, the rotors have been replaced as well as the drums. People have said these old, crude wheels weren't very precise to begin with. As far as the lug bolts are concerned, these wheels have lug nuts that are a threaded collar style, meaning they have a shaft that goes between the wheel and stud and is a very tight fit (and a PITA to install). So, if the studs are bent, they've been that way since new, on all four corners. Another reason I'm going with a simple steel wheel is because I can get the offset that'll work without using spacers or adapters.

1975yellowBSPZ. The only size I know of that is available with the correct bolt pattern are the 15x7's. I'll have to check out the Diamond wheel. Victor. "The price is right, but they're HEAVY! you could get a much lighter wheel in alum, or even steel, for 3 times more cash". The key word here is 'cash'. If I had more I'd look at alot more choices. frank13. I don't know that much about tire balancing, but I know that the tires were spun up on the car to high speed (90-100 mph), stopped, and weights applied to correct the imbalance. This procedure was the only way to get them balanced. I like the style of these wheels and will probably get them in silver powdercoat. I agree they're not the most beautiful wheel, they're more no nonsense and functional, and they are what I can afford right now.

I called them to see if they are available in a 4x4-1/2" pattern and here's thier response: Yes that wheel is available in a 4 on 4.5" bolt pattern. Cost is $57.10 each. Thanks Steve and: "You would need to order direct with us. I do not have this wheel at any of my dealers at this time." Thanks for the heads-up sblake01! :classic:

I'm seriously thinking of putting these wheels on my bone stock '75 280z for two reasons. 1. I want to upsize my tire/wheel size. 2. Because they are a "race wheel" manufactured by Bassett, I feel reasonably assured that they can be balanced off the car. Currently the tires have to be balanced on the car to avoid shake. So...has anyone had experience with this wheel (or manufacturer)? Thanks, Rob web site:http://www.bassettwheel.com/dot.html

New Words!
I thought since we are all to some degree technologically adept, that we might want to catch up on the latest techno-terms available to us. So here goes.... This is how you can tell the English language is alive and well on Planet Earth: We're creating new words. A lot of them. So many that the venerable Oxford English Dictionary has added 3,000 new words to its pages. Read just a sampling of these and update your vocabulary. And be happy that the English language is so much FUN! A sampling of some of the new words: bada bing (also bada bing bada boom): An exclamation to emphasize that something will happen effortlessly and predictably. blog: Shorthand for Web log. bootylicious: Thanks to Destiny's Child, this is a description of exceptional booty. The song lyrics that changed the dictionary: "Cause my body too bootylicious for ya babe." bubkis: Nothing, as in zilch. cantopop: Asian pop industry featuring Cantonese lyrics and western style music. cyberslacker: Someone who uses his or her company's Internet connection during work hours to surf the Net for personal use. data smog: The impenetrable amount of facts available online. Eeyorish: Refers to the character Eeyore in "Winnie the Pooh," who was known for his gloomy outlook on life. egosurf: Someone who searches the Internet for references to himself or herself. lovely jubbly: An expression of delight that originates from the British TV comedy "Only Fools and Horses." muggle: A person without magical powers. muppet: A foolish person. turntablist: A DJ proficient at spinning records. robata: A type of charcoal grill used in Japanese cooking. shotgun cloning: The insertion of random fragments of DNA. shovelware: Low-priced games or other programs packaged into higher-priced collections. prairie-dogging: Office workers in cubicles who raise their heads above the partitions surrounding their desks to see what is going on.

Wheel lug size?
Can anyone tell me what the wheel lug size is for a '75 280z? I'm thinking about buying steel wheels (Bassett, Bart, etc.). I'd like to know the diameter, thread-per-inch, and length. Thanks in advance.
