  1. Does anybody know where I can get the plastic piece that press fits over the glove box knob. Mine cracked beyond repair and I don't really want or need a new latch. I thought about plastic coat or paint. I know it's a minor thing but I'm trying to recondition my interior as new original as possible. Thanks!
  2. It's a '78 alright. My bumper is basically in good shape with no dents. The chrome finish is just dull and kind of scratchy. The rubber is also good. I was hoping that I could just get a reman one like I did on the back for around $200 but I can't find any. I may check into getting it chromed. Thanks!
  3. Does anyone know anybody who sells aftermarket chrome bumpers (just center bar) for the 280Z? I bought a rear one but all I can find for the front are OEM and they are about $1000.
  4. I cross referenced the part # on MSA's website and found out that I was sent 2 right-hand top of window frame weatherstrips. I wasn't very clear with my description. Pic 1 and pic 2 are the same piece bent double. Pic 1 is the new and pic 2 is the old. I took pic 2 off of the top of my window frame. It does look like the bottom weatherstrip though. I already have that one. If you notice, however, the new one is shaped like a triangle and the old one is a little more square like.
  5. I just received my order of Door window frame weatherstrip (outer) for my 1978 280Z from MSA. The parts that I got look different than what came off the window frame. Since none of the numbers that MSA has on their part bags match the part numbers on the order form, I'm not sure this is the right part even if it is roughly the same width and length. Also, I'm supposed to have a left and right side according to the order sheet but the numbers and the parts of both are the same. Can anyone tell me if these are the proper aftermarket replacements? Here is a pic of the old vs the new. Thanks alot Dan
  6. Roger didn't think that he had any of the clips because 90% of the fenders that he removed didn't have the fender seal or the clips on them. The 2 fender weather strips are already in the mail but I refuse to pay $60 plus shipping for 12 little plastic clips from BD. Does anyone know where I might find these cheaper or another way to attach the weatherstrip? Thanks, Dan
  7. Thanks alot guys! I'll hit up Roger at the Z-barn. He lives near me.
  8. That's very self explainatory. Would weatherstrip glue hold the rubber piece on just as well? The weight of the fender will also press down on the molding won't it? I ordered the 2 rubber strips Friday night and my car is not here so I can see it, so I'm just making sure what I need. These clips are $60 for the 12 of them, so if I don't have to buy them I don't want too. Thanks for your reply! Dan
  9. Does anyone know what the clip seals are that go on the inner fender? They are in BD online catalog on page 12 and it says the car requires 12. Whoever restored my 1978 280Z last time apparantly left them off. Thanks
  10. Thanks alot guys!
  11. Does anyone know a replacement part number for the 5 watt push in map lamp? The service manuels that I have don't give an old number to cross reference it to. Thanks!
  12. Does anyone know who has the best basket weave type seat skins for a 1977/1978 280Z? I've read that some are too short on the back. This may just apply to the 240Z skins though. Thanks
  13. I used bicycle inner tube and silicone adhesive. It seems to work really good.
  14. Thanks alot for the good info guys. You have been a big help.
  15. Thanks alot for the advise guys. I read all of the posts that I could find on carpet but most of them went quite a few years back. I wasn't sure whether any of the kits have improved over the years. Some people complained about the jute backing being inferior to stock from MSA. Is MSA molded carpet made by ACC like many of the others or do they have their own supplier? Thanks for the help.
  16. Thanks Mike! I'll strike one up for MSA.
  17. My name is Dan. I'm 47 years old and live in Maryville,TN. I bought a 280Z about 4 months ago. It was pretty sound over-all but had rust in all the usual places. I pretty much gutted the interior. I have the car at Funkytown Customs right now getting the rust areas repaired Funston has all the panels off the car and the windows out. He is going to strip all the paint and re-paint it with Dupont Acrylic enamal. I live in the same town as Roger, who owns the Zbarn. I have gotten quite a few things from him at a really good price. He's been very helpful. I have been shopping aroun for weeks on the internet for a molded carpet kit. Everyone seems to have different opinions about where to by these kits. I pretty well have it narrowed it down to "Stock interiors", MSA or Z specialties (Zman). I would appreciate any of your suggestions.
