New cables and GOOD GROUNDing connections to the block and the firewall. Clean the oxidation off the firewall seal with good dielectric grease. I got 12 from 6 volts at my starter and what feels like 30 horses back. It's a new car! The previous owner asked me why his ex-Z was running so good. I let him know i replaced the ignition switch, then the coil, then the starter wires, and finally found the battery wires and grounding to be the big time fix.

It's all about , need I say, THE ground. Simple to do, and easy to learn. New battery cables and clean conductive surfaces make for a very happy early Zed.

I just spent this week scratching the old melon trying to solve my zed's big time stubbornness not to get started! Last weekend all was good. 5:30 am Monday I found myself turning the key without hearing the freely spinning music of the engine starting up. After many meetings with a friend who is a Zed Head and reading your comments here I have found tranquility base, Houston! The main culprit was the ground wire connected to the fire wall (the oxidation is now sanded off) from the battery along with the starter signal wire replacement, and new battery cables and the new ignition switch. Thanks for your well learned insights!
  9. Took my Z u-joint there a few years ago and found the same "get it done" attitude. Must be something about Tucson.
