We have a 1978 280Z Black Pearl and while doing some restoration we removed the rear hatch louvers. Well, as you can imagine, after 32 years the fasteners holding the hinges and latches to the body were pretty much fused together and instead of unscrewing they came out in one piece. These look like some sort of expansion type arrangement but were so rusted it's hard to tell. Does anyone have an idea of where we might acquire replacements?
Doing last few items on a major rebuild, problem is my passenger side headlight doesn't work and high beams don't work. Both lights illuminate very dimly with driver side fuse out (it was blown) but with good fuses pass side is dark. All other lights work. High beams don't work at all, that sounds like the switch, but the dark pass side is a mystery (maybe not, you guys are good,). Any ideas? Ooops, Sorry, 78 280.
Does anyone know where I can find a fuel pump control relay for a '78 Z. I can't seem to find one anywhere, the only relays that I find are just the small fuel pump relay not the large one.
I'm rebuilding a 78 280. After rebuilding the engine and hooking everything up, the motor only turns over if I jump the solenoid. Fuel pump doesn't run either. Going through wiring diagrams and troubleshooting in a manual for a '77, while checking harness continuity the manual says continuity between terminals 6&8, 7&8 and 8&9. Perfect from end to end on harness, not while plugged in. Manual also says I should have wires in 36 and 39 of AFM plug, but there are no wires there in the harness. These go to relay, I assume for the fuel pump. I think all these problems are related. We bought the car not running and not sure what the previous owner did to it. Also don't want to buy new AFM if I don't need to. Any ideas from this semi vague description? please help, wife is getting impatient.
