  1. Plan on removing My intake manifold soon to put in my MSA headers, anyone who has done it before know what special tools i might need to make the job easier?
  2. This is a very nice write up, atm my speakers are in the doors but i have replacement door panels and was wondering where to relocate them to. On a side note what is that knob above the hood switch?
  3. He sent me a couple of pictures, i will share with you. He also said what was stamped into the door plate: "7/71 and the 7 is stamped in the plate" He sent me larger versions of the ones in the ads too. http://img196.imageshack.us/i/craigslist156.jpg/ http://img39.imageshack.us/i/craigslist190.jpg/ http://img710.imageshack.us/i/craigslist194.jpg/ http://img191.imageshack.us/i/craigslist207.jpg/ http://img441.imageshack.us/i/craigslist217.jpg/ http://img227.imageshack.us/i/craigslist233.jpg/
  4. I emailed him requesting some pics, and some more info about the car
  5. If you haven't driven the car since 1976, Why would you keep paying for the plates? Maybe i'm just too green to have the inside info, but the car in those pics up there still has a tag on the front. :I please correct me if this sounds Stupid

Fun stuff, my strut towers have those holes but there is nothing back there! The PO moved them to the door, and behind the seats, the flat area where it raises up and goes to the cargo area and the hatch.

My 77' 280 has speakers in the lower parts on each door, and two behind the seats, where are the stock places for the speakers? I ask because i got a door panel off a 280 in a JY the same year as mine and it does not have speaker holes in the door. So i assume the PO moved them.

So i think i'm going to do a 6 - 1 header straight back with 2.25 in pipe. Is there a muffler you would recommend to go with this application, or should i just let a shop figure it out? When ordering the header do i need the stock (2") adapter or the 2.5" adapter? Lastly, how much should a shop making a straight pipe, installing the header, and a muffler cost? I emailed a few local shops, only one got back to me, and quoted me 650 for the pipe and magnaflow muffler, and 100 dollars an hour to install the header. This feels a bit high for what i am asking.

Should i do a 6 - 1 header then, and then take it to a shop, that feedback is enough to change my mind on the twice pipes

In the low RPMs. I like to baby it, i usually shift around 3.5 unless i am trying to pass someone :I

I checked all my seals, (not the shift boot, thats a great tip, that i would have never figured out myself) they all look fine, i think i hear the 'ticking' described in another thread as a bad gasket / seal at the header. Anyway back on topic, after reading over numerous threads, the majority vote seems to be they sound great, and are a pain to install. So i'm going to take it to a shop, my next question is, is it cheaper to buy the twice pipes kit and a 3 - 2 muffler take it to a shop have them weld and bend it all to make it fit, or just buy the header and have them make the rest. I've never dealt with a muffler / exhaust shop before. How much would each option cost roughly so i know what to look for when shopping around. Which one is better performance wise? ( I tried looking this up but all i could find was a lot of debates on twice pipes vs single pipes vs TRUE twice pipes etc. but no real answer) On a side note if i do go with MSA's kit, the header gives me a choice of stock or 2.5" adapter, which one is the twice pipes, if i got a shop to make one, which one should i get. Also, thanks for all the replys, much better then other Z forums i frequent and have to wait days for responses, and then they act like i am a moron. So thanks!

Hey guys, new here + first post  I was thinking of getting new exhaust + header for my 77 280 for a better sound and to reduce some of the noxious fumes filtering into the car from the stock rusty exhaust. I was looking at a 3-2 MSA header into twice pipes, does anyone have this set up, how hard was it to install, how does it sound and what do you think of it after having it for a while? Or the 6 - 1 header and 2.5 pipes to a muffler, what are the advantages to this vs. the 3-2 and twice pipes set up / disadvantages? Thanks for any feedback and nice to meet you all!
