Took off the carburetors and dismantled them. I soaked all parts in gas to clean them. The next morning I scrubbed each part and dried it thoroughly. I reassembled with new gaskets and new jets. Unfortunately I overtightened the front carb jet and broke it off inside the threading. I was able to drill out the brass remains of the new jet (mostly) and fit a new jet in, but it’s tilted just a little. I reinstalled the carbs, hooked everything back up and “no go”. The only way I can get the car running is by literally blowing gas from the float chamber into the carbs and having the throttle speed screws all the way screwed in. The car starts and revs way too high. I can get the RPMs down to around 1000, but it start to shudder and then die if I go lower. If I keep it at 1000 and try to rev the engine it dies. I also see that the chamber on the rear carb is not moving when I rev the engine. What did I do? Is the rear carb dirty? Do I have a vacuum leak? Obviously I should attempt to find a replacement top to my front float chamber so I can install the jet properly. Any help is appreciated.

Did you end up replacing the rear oil seal? Mine has had a slow leak for a while and I'm looking to change it out next week. Would love some advice if you wouldn't mind. A little intimidated by having to drop the tranny.
