  1. I have the exact same setup (minus the small bumpers but early 260z bumpers are not that bad) and I totally agree........way too much fun to drive. I probably put 100+ miles on it every week just pleasure driving. Funny, mine actually lived in London, Ontario (home of racer88) for most of it's life (30+ years).

Hey Casey, I also recently gave up on Black Dragon door weather stripping after weeks of trying to get the doors to close properly. I went with the much talked about Kia Sportage weather stripping that worked like a charm. As I mentioned on OntarioZcar.ca, your car is looking great can't wait to see it out at some of the club events.
  3. "MSA's customer service is outstanding. I've never ordered from BD". I have had the same experience as Gary. I especially like MSA as they will ship most things (depending on size) by USPS. This is important when shipping to Canada (I live in Ontario) as you will only have to pay sales tax (amount depends on province) and an $8 Canada Post handling fee. Other companies (ZcarSource in Arizona is one) will only ship by courier which ends up costing you huge brokerage fees at the border (I ordered $100 of parts and it cost me another $100 in shipping and brokerage fees). If you live in Ontario Brantford Nissan (ask for Rick) is an excellent source for parts. There are a few others in Canada but I do not have any expereince with them.

Fixitman, Do you mind me asking how much you paid for the rechroming?

Good luck with the project it looks like a good starting point. If you are looking for some local help try the OntarioZ site. http://ontariozcar.com/forum/ The side pipes have to go.
  6. Thanks, but I have decided to try and repair mine. I removed the metal bracket, drilled out the bolts and replaced with stainless steel. I have cleaned up the rubber and I'm nearly ready to try and put them back together, I just have to get someone to weld the bolts into place. I'm hoping that a strong adhesive and a couple of screws should hold it. I will give you a shout if it doesn't work.
  7. I agree with TomoHawk (of course I own a 260z). The 260z was manufactured from 08/73 -08/74. The earlier versions (08/73 - 06/74) retain more 240z features than the later ones. I actually lucked out when I bought my 260 as the PO swapped out the engine with a combination of an L28 block with an E31 head (from a 70 L24). He also put in 4 screw round top SU carbs. A nice combination. Good luck with your decision.
  8. While removing my rear bumper this past weekend I managed to break the bolts that hold the overriders (bumper guards) to the shock absorbers. This pretty much destroys the overrider as the bolt is part of a metal insert that forms part of the overrider (see picture below). I have a couple of questions: 1) Does anyone have a set of rear bumper overriders (bumper guards) for a 03/74 260z. 2) Has anyone had the same problem and managed to fix the old overrider. I was wondering if the stub could be cut off and a new bolt welded on. thanks
  9. Nice to see the pride of Toronto (Rush) is getting some air time in California. I had them on myself the other day in the Z. Others include Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Neil Young (another Toronto boy), Clapton, The Beatles and Pink Floyd.

Congrats. I also got myself a 260z about 6 months ago. I absolutely love the car (it was a bit of a tough go at the start but I have managed to resolve some of the major issues). Unfortunately, the Canadian winter is coming quickly and I have to put her away in the next couple of weeks. Hope you enjoy your ride. P.S. - Personally I think the 260 is one of the more collectible Z's given the fact it was only manufactured for one year.

Zedyone, I am having a similar issue as you mentioned above (page 1 - 1/15/2010) ...... I have power into my power antenna toggle switch (not the factory switch ..... aftermarket radio) but no power out on either side (up or down). Before I replaced the power antenna I checked the switch and there was power out on both sides and at the antenna itself. How did you resolve this? thanks

Thanks Ron, I did find a PDF that outlines a breakdown and clean-up of the combination switch. I will give it a try. Colin

I have discovered leaking coolant coming from the heater core hoses. Do I need to drain the coolant to replace these hoses? Any other hints would be appreciated Thanks

Can't seem to get the wipers to stop in my 74 260z. I have the intermittent and two continous speeds but when I turn the switch to the off position they just keep going ..... pulled fuse for now. I followed the trouble shooting suggestions in the service manual (i.e. removed wiper motor and adjusted auto-stop switch) but no luck. Of course, I may not not have adjusted this switch properly. Any suggestions?? I am hoping it is not the combination switch...kind of pricey. Appreciate all the help. Thanks, Colin
