Hey guys, just looking for some reassurance that the hood, hatch, passenger side rear quarter panel, and the pieces under the headlight shrouds ... where the front marker lights are mounted, will all fit from a 74 260z onto a 72 240z???? Thanks in advance ....

Okay I was just wanting the benefit of others experience ... how common is it for the speedometer driven gear to go bad. After a tranny change five years ago (car had been parked since then, only used occasional weekends, now it is a daily driver so I need to get everything in working order again ... at least that's what the cop who pulled me over for speeding said) Anyway ... after the change, the speedometer no longer worked, I've put vice grips on the end of the cable (tranny side obviously) and spun it, the gauge jumps, so I am assuming it is not the gauge, and anyway the gauge was fine before the change. I had also pulled the cable out and lubricated it, it's not the cable. So I am left with the gear the cable plugs into right? Or is there something I am missing? I definitely know nothing about transmisssions, except the fact that I will probably have mine changed to a five speed, I think the front seal might be leaking, so I am thinking about just having the guy who does the work I am too chicken to try, replace the whole thing. Any opinions on drawbacks/benefits of going to a five speed would be appreciated also. I am thinking ... a five speed from a 280? My plan is to check out the wrecking yard for the gear, and pop it in til I get the transmission work done. They only have one or two in the yard here, and they have been pretty picked clean, but hopefully they'll still have that part. You guys will have to have patience with me and my questions, I'm sure I'll have quite a few, and I work slowly due to financial constraints. The car only gets driven about ten miles a day to and from work, I am the second owner, and am not happy with myself for letting my "baby" get in such bad shape. Thanks for any help. I have a parts wanted list also ... http://www.240z.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3904
  3. You guys have been great help so far ... Thanks. I will be getting a little more into all my projects in the next week or so, it is supposed to be cooling off here ... you no longer burst into flames as soon as you step outside Thank you for the welcome. I hope you guys like helping out, cause I'm sure I'll be asking for advice. I already have questions, but due to my work schedule for the next couple of weeks, I'll probably have to post them slowly ...
  4. Brand new here, hope this comes out okay. I am in need of lots of parts for my 72 240z, the most important at ths point is the turn signal switch. I'll just list the rest of the items I am in search of; 1.matching taillight assemblies 2.body panels that surround tail lights, the thin ones(middle, and passenger side peices) 3.outside door handle 4.passenger side quarter panel 5.speedometer driven gear (or whatever its called, gear inside tranny for speedometer, that cable connects to) 6.red interior body panels(misc. parts needed if you got 'em let me know and I'll figure out exactly which ones I need to replace) 7. red interior rivets 8. flat peice where hatch closes down onto(with the hole where the hatch hasp is, sorry don't know what it is called.) Thats all I can think of right now, I'll probably be adding to this list later. Fortunatey for an uninsured motorist who's brakes went out on a downhill grade ... I was in the right place at the right time to help stop him. Fortunately for me ... I wasn't a speed bump ... just a bump stop. Can someone please tell these people to stop tailgating! I am on a small buget, and do the work myself, any help with parts or tips from more seasoned enthusiasts/mechanics/bargain parts hunters (11yrs for me, but still a newbie) would be greatly appreciated.
