  2. No not too much racing going on the past year or so here. Still working off the debt. The car still in great shape, and I keep it licensed throughout the summers. If you make it down to Regina you can take it out for a spin, and tell me about what all went into the car. I'm curious about the spring-rates up front.
  3. Hey! I own the wife's old car. (In "My Z Photos") We've spoke in email in the past. Good to see you here!

Looking at your gallery, that Z looks to be in fairly decent shape! Good luck with your project.
  5. My clunk comes from the two bolts holding the diff to the mustache bar. Tighten those right up, and the flop should go away. (The studs slightly increase size right at the diff cover to fit firmly into the mustache bar itself.) When those nuts get loose I get a little wear on the studs themselves.

I have to agree, $30K seemed like ALOT to ask for. Who knows. Bruce: Snow / salt & Potholes . Its getting rare to find cars more then 10-15 years old on the road around here.

I've read a couple posts lately about what these cars have been fetching. This looks to be a nice example. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1972-Datsun-240Z-W0QQAdIdZ218899581
  8. The 195 will fit, but may look a little stretched. (not vw fad however) I run 205/50/15' F and 205/55/15's R. Without any rubbing. (Low Z) I've had 215/50/15's on there as well. (These had a little bit of rub in the rear under high load corners on the track.) If you listen closely you'll hear it here. I know you're asking about a 14" in rim. The only 14's I have are 14x6, and I use the 195s.

Maybe its my lack of money. But this is a Z that should stay in the field you found it. Grab what you can tho!

Heh, yeah... Unless that jar has some sort of urine tinge to it.. Or, maybe thats an alcohol fueled car... Prepped for dark rum?

Last time I needed an Alternator no one locally was able to get one in (rebuild even) for less then $300. So I fabbed the existing mounting points and now use a Chevy 1 wire out of a mid-90s truck. Rebuild kits are cheap for those I can't think of what would be causing you to go through items that often though. Step 1, get your new (current) alt tested. If it comes back as not charging, but the brushes are still good, looks like your burning out a component of. Could be that the ALT is not getting the signal to 'stop charging'. But check everything. I've had a similar problem in a different car, drove me nuts. It would seam like an alt / battery issue, but ended up to be cable rot 2 FT down the positive line. (Just so happened we were pulling on it enough checking the battery or boosting the car to get it to run again). Once I replaced all the cable, I never had an issue with it.

Hahaha, ok thanks. I'll go find another.

During constant running, I'm getting a steady drip coming from the mechanical fuel pump. Its gas coming out of the two tiny breather holes on the bottom half. (I can plug one and watch it escape with more pressure on the other side). Now before I go sourcing a new one out, I was wondering if any of you experts ran across this, is it something I can remedy by making new seals for the pump itself?

Thanks guys. Ymmit, you sporting a 240z in Moose Jaw there?

Hey, Signed up after some googling. I've had a 71 240z for a few years now. Bought it as a track car for WCMA racing. Haven't had it on the track since EGP 2007, but I do keep a local plate on it and take it to work once in awhile. (Not very comfortable for a daily-driver however.) A Short in-car video here I believe there is another member here from Regina SK. If you know of him point him my way.
