  1. I am in the process of working on the front end of my 77z. I got everything taken off of the front of the car except for the passenger side bumper absorber. After getting all the pieces off it looks like both frame extensions are angled about 10-15 degrees to the driver's side. Anyone have tips for straightening this back out? I was thinking maybe getting a come-along and pulling the two pieces together to get them back centered but not sure. May end up just hammering it back into shape. Anyone with a MSA bumper want to chime in on how important these piecse are as I am switching to that and might just cut some of it off. First picture is of the bumper support showing the angle that both frame sections are bent to.

Awesome, I figured that it was the fuel pump but the plugs looked different than I have noticed before from a factory harness. I have a few other things on the car that I want to line out before I try and start it up. The PO looks to have jumped all of the relays in the engine bay, maybe they were bad I am not sure. As for the fuel, anyone have a good product that will clean up the lines? I am thinking about getting something to put in the tank, unplug the fuel line from the fuel filter, and pump it into a bucket to see what comes out. There is a black goo leaking from the tank at the moment very slowly, not exactly sure what it is yet as I have not got it up on stands yet. If anyone wants to see more picture I put up an album with all my progress. http://s24.photobucket.com/albums/c9/zachissak/280z/ Thanks for looking

So a few more questions as well as a few more pictures. As a background the previous owner bought it as a father/son project and lost interest in it as they could not get it to start. They put new spark plugs in, has gas in the tank, oil, and antifreeze. Hooked up a battery and they said it would turn over it just wouldn't start up. Now as I was going through the car today removing the interior and moldy carpet I came across a set of wires that is unplugged and looks to be going underneath the car and to the fuel pump I am assuming. Maybe you guys can verify this for me as I have not been able to get underneath the car yet and will not be trying to start it up until next week. I also found a few rust spots that were covered over with fiberglass...or atleast ATTEMPTED to be covered over. It will be a few days before everything gets worked out. I have ordered a factory service manual online as I like to have the book as a quick reference in the garage instead of the pdf versions. Anyone have any advice?

I just recently picked up this 280z for 525 which I feel is a pretty good deal for a car that is all there and a motor that turns over. 1977 Datsun 280z Automatic Can anyone identify these 14 inch wheels, have an R on the centercap. Rust doesn't seem to be too bad, has some spots on the rails but the hatch area looks good and the batter tray isn't too horrible. Car rear ended someone and bent the bumper. Doesn't look like it affected the core sport any though so it should be easily straightened. Let me know your thoughts
