i need my AC worked on.. it works but the stuff that is inside it is oily brown crap and it hardly cools at all.. and im guessing it was converted to r134a because it has the fittings on it for r134a connections.. and it seems to have some of that in it right now. should i simply go get it vacuumed out and refil with r134a?

you got yourself a leak sir! there are rubber hoses where the fuel pump is. so check those, and then there are rubber hoses on the passenger side front where the fuel filter is and then on the fuel rail. since you smell the gas at the pump, check those. crawl under the car you can see it mounted to the body.

well you came to the right plance. some of these guys can tell you right off the bat minor stuff to do to keep it in good running condition, like adjusting TPS, right spark plugs. timing stuff, sensor stuff like the temp sensor, if its broken you'll run rich and crappy.. bad connectors and so on. search around theres a ton of crap like that on here.

after learning the hard way, makes it easier to find easy ways of doing the same thing.

I am interested in learning what this vapor locking issue is. what are the symptoms, i know it is because the fuel got to hot, and i know the ZX's apparently had this issue which is why they installed that good for nothing fan that just blows more hot air onto the injecter rail.. but what is vapor lock?

ya ive looked at that hood a few times, as mine has some paint issues and is sort of bent, latch bent to crap. i just dont have the money to get it.

ok sounds like a failing pump. or clogged lines. the pump could make different noises depending on the situation. like mine makes a pumping noise but gets quieter when the pressure builds up to 30 or so psi. but it is loud as hell when i first turn it on in the morning. for your sake, you could have a leak, but you should be smelling gas without turning the car on. if you cant smell gas. then it might be something else, like failing pump or blockage as in it could be trying to suck fuel out of the tank but can only get a tiny bit because its clogged and could be making a hissing noise because of it. so do this. get a hold of a fuel pressure tester, and hook it up at your fuel rail before your fuel pressure regulator, and turn on your key, see if it ever even gets up to 30 or so psi. if it doesnt or does but doesnt stay. clogged, leak, or failing pump.

i got a 78 280 and my pump makes noises until i start the car, no hissing sound but i can hear it. we will need more info on your car to help you. what year, model, so on.

thats exactly what i was thinking. ive always looked into doing some sort of stripe starting at the hood bulge and maybe fade while going to the rear ending at the spoiler.

that is sweet! how much did that cost you if you dont mind me asking? id like to get a full paint job done on my z one day and am wondering how much something like that goes for.

it did look pretty good before it started to rust in little areas after raining one time. but only the hood was bare metal. everything else was a crappy blue ive never seen a bare metal Z so if you or someone else accomplished this, that would be an exceptional site to see. EDIT: sorry meant to edit not write a whole new post.

I have no idea. whatever he put to protect it didnt work good in some areas probably because he didnt do it right or put enough coats, so it started to rust, so i then right away cleaned it up and primered over it.

a previous owner tried that on my first z i had a couple years ago.. it looked decent but it had a bunch of scuff marks in it after the polish.. when i hear about cars like that i think of the delorean!

Check fuel injectors.

injectors are a huge thing. one of mine were leaking all the time, then it changed to being clogged shut and that cylinder wouldnt fire.
