Yup, no money or time for all the metal work needed. The car is In the garage so I figure it would take a while for the rust to come through No sanding yet Im taking 12 credits and have a weekend job so that means I dont have ANY TIME AT ALL to do the things I like maybe during thanksgiving break ill be able to do some sanding. If your hood is dented bad I would look for another hood, specially if you expect a good outcome. I found this hood for $30 on craigslist ....had no rust compared to my original hood, but once I started sanding I started to see it had hail damage and dents that I could not see with the paint still on it. Ive even thought about a CF hood.....but I dont know there are other things that that money can go to //////

offset is 0 and the wheel spacers where not machined properly so I have to figure something else out.

I believe the offset is 0 I had to buy a 5mm spacer and extended studs when I upgraded my brakes last week (4 piston 4 runner calipers )

The wheels are Koning rewind 16x7 in, tires are 205/55R16 front and 225/50R16 rears. The interior of the car is ok other than the seats and dash, Im thinking about putting a new cap on it. but money is being put aside now for a stroker build . Im very undecided whether to put a 383 with an auto trans in it...or just stroke the l28 to a 3.1.....so undecided that ive bought all the parts for the stroker already....and I have the v8 sitting in my garage staring at me every day.....but that can be another whole thread later . As far as orange peel, IF you have never painted anything before...expect the worst. I did and I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. Its not perfect but few people can say they have painted their own car.....just take your time and think of the

I didtn fill it in, it was previously filled in by whoever did the last paint job, I like the way it looks filled in, gives it a smoother look.

Yes the color is from the 2009 GTR Im afraid to wetsand it I might use a cuter on it. Thanks Thanks OLZED I used acrylic for the spoilers and base/clear for the body to be specific 2 coats primer, base and clear. I heard that doing more than 2 coats can lead to trouble for the inexperienced painter Plus it was raining and as you can tell this was done in a warehouse so moisture was a concern.

I just wanted to share this with you guys/gals, Ive wanted to paint my car since the day I bought it. Finally this summer I had some time and did it. It took me about a week to prep and 2 days to paint. Im supper happy with the outcome, specially considering that it is my first paint job EVER. There are a couple of spots that have orange peel and overspray, but fortunately they are not very noticeable. The paint shop that I bought all my supplies from was very helpful and gave me great tips on what to do and what not to do, also youtube is your best learning tool as far as getting ideas on spraying. thoughts?
  10. yah thats where i bought my frame rails from...im just going to fab up some metal for the floors
  11. Did the tc rod bushings yes. Ive never cut a coil, so am i supposed to cut 2 coils then ? what do you mean put a bend? I have so much frame rust that stress cracks were probably all ready there....ill be pulling my engine out this summer and putting my welding skills to test patching and replacing rusted frame rails...
  12. Some more pics , I ended up cutting the fronts coils (-1 coil) didnt seem to make a huge difference in height, all the bushings were replace except the trans mounts and rack and pinion. The car sticks to the road now, i could not be happier with the upgrade. Lucky for me the previous owner had already replaced the spindle pins and they came off by hand. So now i have a set of brand new pins sitting in my tool box :/
  13. Im upgrading the suspension on the 280. The shocks are blown, all the bushings are cracked, but not all is bad the original owner started doing some upgrades (installed msa blue springs) before he sold the car. I ordered a new set of kybs, a master set of poly bushings and front and rear sway bars. So far ive only installed the front sway bar and the steering bushing that goes between the rack and the steering shaft
  14. unfortunately I payed new prices for those items :/ But thats enough thread jacking. OP did you get them yet? my set was 289 ish shipped.
  15. I just ordered some from "import replacement parts" after i was told the same about my 280z illuminas ....Im also not buying anything else from the Z store after receiving my airdam and spoiler all scuffed up and getting a lame excuse for the scratches...
  16. The wheels are koning rewinds 16x7 with continental extreme contact ws 205/55 r16 front and 225/50 r16 on the rear
  17. Just checked out that site, looks pretty cool. I may have to join
  18. Wheels and tires mounted I LOVE the way this thing looks now....
  19. Im not sure yet, I dont know if i want to color match the parts or repaint matte black
  20. Thanks for the tip rcb280z ill keep it in mind when i start painting.
  21. It was a pain to get the front bumper off but i was able to install everything tonight. Wheels tomorrow

So, i notice that i had a little whole on the driver floor pan, the previous owner had already patched the front part of the pan, now i have to patch the mid part of the pan, eventually ill have to replace the whole pan and the rail, but in the mean time this will do.
