lagg on take off and high rpm
So i have done some work on my 1972 240z, put a cam in it, and headers. I was told that you cant set the timing with a timing light if you have a modded cam, so i set it as best i could. i have been driving it for around a month now, but it feels like it has a loss of power. when i put fresh plugs in it, it runs like a champ. however after a while it starts to feel laggy, when starting off if i dont have around 2 rpm it will bog and stumble to get up to speed. while driving it does good but some times it will jult like all 6 cylinders have no spark. also when at high rpm it will spudder and start to miss fire. i have a new msd coil for the car but am waiting on the resister to get here, im thinking it could be the coil, or i could just be off on the timing, also the carbs could have a slight of hand to do with it. need some help

electrical problems
I found that the new voltage regulator connector wire is shorter than the original one, the connection was secure but had a lot of tension. it caused a bad connection, i moved the regulator closer rleaving the tension, this made for a better connection. This fixed the problem thanks for all the great advice

both alternator and regulator are from autozone, connections are secure. amp gauge runs from slightly positive to past the line of high positive and jumps back and forth at high rpm

electrical problems
I am having some issues with my 1972 240, i upgraded my cam put a header on replaced radiator, alternator and voltage regulator. I set the timing and started it got everything tuned, today when i started the car and gave it a little gas the gauges flickered and dimmed. I shut it off and started it again, after letting it idle again i raced the engine and around 5000 rpm the gauges dimmed again. while running the amp gauge fluctuates greatly. when idling the amps are consistent slightly positive, when racing the engine the amps jump to high positive and fluctuates slightly positive to high positive. also after running for a while smokes starts coming from the electricals on the steering collum, i found that the right blinker wire was unplugged. need some help
