For Sale: 1971 240z
I am still doing some research on what I think would be appropriate. I paid $6k for it in 2000 and realize I am not going to get that today. It will be over $2k, but by how much I do not know yet.

For Sale: 1971 240z
I have had this car for almost 5 years and need to find it a good home. I no longer drive as much as I used to and cannot give it the time it deserves. Cost will be either the best offer or whomever I feel will give it the care it deserves. Here are the main details: 1971 240z VIN: HLS3030857, mileage 189,771. I have all of the details and old photos on my website: http://www.sizzlefish.com/zcar/zcar.html. Make sure you hit the detail link on the bottom of the page. I have only put on about 10k miles in the last 5 years. I do not have immediate access to a digital camera so the photos do not show the car in current state. The only thing different now is the clear coat is going and bumpers are rusting (see below for known issues). If you have serious interest, please let me know and I will arrange to borrow a camera and photograph for you. I am located in Pacifica, CA and would also be happy to show by arrangement. Known issues: the clear coat is peeling or gone in areas around the car; the chrome on the front and rear bumpers needs to be redone (the guy who owned it before me had a crappy paint and chrome job done - front bumper is mostly dechromed and rear is starting to dechrome); tires have a little tread but need to be replaced; small hole in driver's seat upholstery; exhaust smokes a bit every now and then (not water vapor); clock is dead (but who's isn't); antenna motor is dead. I have only had a chance to drive it a select few times over the last 5 months or so but it still runs very strong. It only has about 25 miles on the last oil change. I also have the original OEM parts and service manuals that I would consider throwing in for the right buyer. Please feel free to email me with any questions at rich@sizzlefish.com. I don't hit this site very much anymore but will try to make an effort to check this thread every day or 2 for questions in case your email was eaten by my SPAM filters.

Front sway bar issues
I have a '72 240z and the previous owner upgraded the front sway bar to a 1" Motorsport model. I just replaced the poly bushings with Motorsport poly replacements but have noticed that they keep working their way out of the bushing retention clamps. Has anyone had similar issues or are there replacement clamps for the 1" bars? My car is garaged until I can figure this out so PLEASE HELP!!!! :-)

Should users log-in to read forums?
I used to deal with managing discussion forums and found that as soon as you start requiring people to register and log-on to read forums, two things can happen. First, people who are just looking for quick information will likely go elsewhere because the though of having to fill out a form to find useless information (in general...we have lots of good info here) does not appeal to them. Second, if you do get this group of people to register, you will likely get completely bogus information. Either way, that doesn't really help with getting sponsorship. The way to get people to register is to give them a tease and require registration for more detailed information. You will still get some bogus registration data but those people that really want a good topical forum will usually go through the motions.

The new Z in person - Chicago Auto Show
You need a "Still deciding if it looks good" option. I think I like it, but more than the classic versions, I don't know. Would I say that I hate it, absolutely not. Do I think it looks better than the classics, I don't think so...the jury is still out. rg

Introduce yourself to the class?
Greetings all, My name is Richard Gray and I am the proud owner of a '71 240z (silver w/black interior). I am currently unemployed and was in the hi-tech industry before I got tired of companies going out of business under my feet. I call Santa Cruz, CA my home and am happy to see other Z enthusiasts around town. I think I first got interested in Z's when I got to ride in my uncle's 240z back in the early 70's. He had a nice '70 240 that was very close to what I have now. The only difference was he had a front air dam and rear louvres. He used to live in Las Vegas (musician back in the early days of the strip) and told me stories of his 100+ mph travels across the desert. He was most impressed with the air dam at higher speeds keeping the car under better control. Anyway, back in the days when I had extra money, I decided to purchase a new toy and came across a guy in Oregon who had decided to retire. Turns out, he owned a Nissan repair shop...how bad could his car be, right? After several emails, I hopped a plane to Oregon with a cashiers check in my pocket. I am happy to say that I had a REALLY great drive back to Santa Cruz from the Eugene area. The car is almost completely stock. When I have the time, I would like to do a frame up restore. Until that day, I enjoy driving Hwy 17 and the many mountain roads outside of town. Hobbies include disc golf, fly fishing, kayacking, mt biking and driving fast. :-) I am not married (thank god), have a dog, cat, gecko and lots of fish. Happy driving and keep the dirty side down... rg
