To Be Or Not To Be - Harada That Is!
I was recently gifted with a box of S30 antennas and associated parts. I hope to refurb them and get them in the hands of new owners. Of three antennas with mast bases, one is marked Harada and the other two have no branding whatsoever. The branded and non-branded units appear to be virtually identical in all respects, except for branding. Both have what might be a date stamp. My question to the group is: did Harada produce non-branded antennas or was there another manufacturer involved building identical but unbranded units, perhaps under license from Harada?

KONI Sports for Classic Z's
This is not a new problem, any number of owners of early cars experienced the same issue, myself included. The problems lies with a thick weld bead at the bottom of the strut tube that prevents the KONI insert from fully seating. The problem is visible when the gland nut will not install to the correct depth. KONI and MSA worked on a solution in the form of revised gland nuts with a longer thread body. MSA supplied these modified gland nuts at no cost to customers reporting the problem. I recommend you reconnect with MSA and request the modified gland nuts. BTW, the problem seemed to be limited to the front struts as there were no reports of rear struts having the issue.

New Source For S30 Door Seals
I spotted this on one of my FB groups (S30 Life), looks to possibly be a great product for all S30's. Interesting wording on the product description: an exact fit for '69-72 models to 06/72, then a very good fit for all later models. Anything coming out of the folks at S30 World is usually spot on. https://s30.world/product/datsun-240z-nissan-fairlady-z-set-of-door-rubbers-door-weather-strips-for-lr-side?fbclid=IwY2xjawFn5BlleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHaFz08OpowthIb4moKiiPnBPNcmmq4RaSxakN8zokI1Jhbkwj32GjHmYIg_aem_XFFA0aZ0MJ1qJZtj6rG2cA

Is it possible to lubricate a steering rack?
It looks like I stand corrected, moving to figure two with the arrow confirms the grease reservoir was limited to 240Z models and discontinued for the 260Z and later. I too had never noticed the arrow function before - learn something new every day.

Is it possible to lubricate a steering rack?
Not to argue with my good friend Cliff @siteunseen but it seems unlikely that Nissan would have installed a 3/4" high plastic grease reservoir in the same location as the rubber bushing mount. If so, there would have been an existing hole for the threaded throat of the fitting. The carparts manual diagram referenced by @Zed Head shows it to be on the passenger side for all models of S30. Note on my pic there is actually a reinforcing plate on the tube to provide enough metal for threads. I've no theory or explanation as to why our OP has no provision for the part other than some possibility that the rack might not be original to the car.

Is it possible to lubricate a steering rack?
The rack orignally came with a small plastic grease reservoir on the top right side between the mounting bushing and the tie rod covering. Most have broken off by now leaving the neck of the reservoir stuck in the rack tube. Extract the plastic remnant and install a Zerk fitting to grease the rack.

Grill bolt finish
The bolt head and the nut will be the same finish as the grill, the shaft is concealed so it does not matter.

Caliper date codes
I just checked back into my project pics, have a shot of one backside and it is 7 0 X. No surprise to me as front and rear casting runs at a factory could have different schedules.

Caliper date codes
Works for me, my calipers are coded 9 0 2.

1971 HLS30-14938 "Lily" build
I was restoring a bunch of inspection lights and all needed new lens. I contacted 240Zrubberparts to see if I could get a quantity discount. He asked if I wanted "crystal clear" lens and without thinking I said yes instead of specifying opaque. So... I have a bunch of lights that do not look like OE and I occasionally gift them to friends.

SpareTire
FWIW, I fitted a 185/70 to my OE steel spare wheel and it is an exact fit in the spare tire well, the spare tire cover fits nicely into it's original position. As an aside, for anyone running aftermarket wheels there is a possibility that that the lug nuts may not be a good fit against a OE steel wheel so place a bag with a set of OE lug nuts in with the spare tire.

WESCO Seatbelts, hardware kit needed?
I originally bought the kit, ended up not using any of it.

Turn Signal Nasty!
Ever wonder why your turn signals act a bit wonky or even stop working??? Here are the contacts for the '72 switch I recently worked on. That's a nasty buildup of carbon to block the flow of power. The second pic is the same contacts after working them over with a small file (a points file to be specific 😉).

1971 HLS30-14938 "Lily" build
Any chance they were from a non-US spec car, i.e. Canada? The 4650 and 4651 might reflect the same changes as 4600 and 4601. Just a WAG!

1971 HLS30-14938 "Lily" build
Charles, I just pulled out my hardcopy of the parts fische that I bought in 1999. There is no reference to either of these P/N's for the '69-73 cars. For manual transmissions thru 12/70 it was E4600 and E4601; thru 08/71 it was E8300; thru 12/71 it was E8800; thru 06/72 it was E8802; thru 09/72 it was N3300; for the remaining '73's it was N3325 for "A" (?) and N3326 for "B" (?).. Similar changes for cars with the auto transmission. Jim
