Hi, so my starter died and I replaced it, but when I tried to start it, there was no clicking or anything. It sat for about a month until I had time to change the starter so is this most likely a problem of a dead battery? Is this right? Thanks!
  2. Thanks, I should be picking up some roundtops soon!
  3. I found the dgvs on sale which is why I should be able to afford them. So roundtop SU's are the best? I guess I'll just figure out how to rebuild my flattops until I have enough cash to get roundtops. Thanks for the help!
  4. I have the kits, but I do not have any experience in rebuilding carbs, and I need my car running reliably asap. I would go to roundtops, but I am on a tight budget as a college student. And Bruce, are saying you can rebuild the flattops, even though I know they are not the best, or are you saying do the roundtop conversion? Thanks! Also, I am assuming new dgv's then are not the best option?
  5. I already have the flattop carbs, but I have no idea if they are rebuildable. How much would it cost to have them rebuilt then? Thank you all!
  6. Hi, I was wondering what the best option would be? I currenntly have flattop carbs, but I was wondering if it really is worth getting them rebuilt by ztherapy. Otherwise the next cheapest solution is a new pair of weber dgv's, which I heard are not as good as su's, but I have only seen them compared to roundtops. I could get roundtops, but I have not been able to find the full setup, and then I would have to probably get those rebuilt. I have a 1973 240z with and L28, and I am on a very tight budget. Thank you for your help!

I don't know if this thread fits in here, but for me it is a help me. I need to perform some mechanical work on my car but the garage I am currently renting, like many other here in San Fran, allow no work on the car. Is there anywhere that is renting out hourly spaces or work bays that I could work on my car in for a day? Thanks!
  8. 300 na?? thats gonna be expensive. I'd assume cams, stroked, solex, oer, or weber carbs etc but I'm no expert. I know os giken produced the tc24 head for the L-series engine and it produced around 300 hp, good luck finding one though and for a reasonable price. good luck with your project!

I have that in my car in the same location, except mine's attached. Haven't touched it though for fear of messing something up.
  10. Awesome, about to purchase a 280z 3 row brass and copper radiator. Hope it works! Thanks for all the help!
  11. I definitely will put a note next time! And yup, its the international students that are that rich, kind of depressing. haha
  12. I looked at cx racing but couldnt find a 240z radiator?? Back to ebay. Thank you for the suggestion though! Some stock 280z radiators are a 3 row correct? and it would be an improvement over the stock 240z 2 core? Also is there a difference between the automatic and manual radiator? Thanks for all the help, I really just want to get this right the first time!
  13. whoops, 280z, sorry!
  14. Hi, just randomly today while I was leaving class from Lone Mountain at University of San Francisco I saw a tan 240 with a white interior and blue plates. Anybody on here that owns this car? It is definitely refreshing to see a 280z, rather than the rich kids' maseratis, lambos, aston martins, rolls royce, gtr's, m6's, and m3's I always see here. It would be cool to know another z car enthusiast goes to school at USF!
  15. hmm, I was thinking bout another idea of a stock or aluminum 280z or 280zx radiator? they are cheaper, whether repro or aluminum. I heard that these will fit, although a little lower. I was wondering what the difference is between a radiator for a manual vs auto? I ask because I will be converting from auto to manual soon. Thanks!
  16. or would a nos stock 2 core work? just asking regarding cash saved. Otherwise 3 core it is, thanks for your guys' help!
  17. Hi, so I own a 1973 240z with an l28 in it. I had a question as I I'll be changing the radiator soon. From my understanding a 280z radiator should fit generally alright in a 240z, and I am most likely going to get an aluminum radiator off ebay, as most seem to be ok. I would recore, but I am trying to shed some weight off the car. My question is that what will be better, a 280z 2-core, or 240z 3-core. I would get a 240z 2-core but those seem to not be for sale anymore. I was thinking of a 280z 2-core since I heard some people had trouble getting air through the 3-cores, and 280z 2-cores are available. I would highly prefer not to use an aftermarket fan. My other choice would be a nos 240z radiator/ Any opinions? Thanks for reading and any advice given!

I apologize if I am placing this in the wrong forum, but I bought my 1973 240z with an l28 in it. What radiator do I get for it? an l24 one, or l28 one? Thanks!
  20. so based on what you are saying: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/78-DATSUN-NISSAN-280Z-MANUAL-STARTER-/380314047585?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item588c7bd461#ht_500wt_749 This should be the gear reduction starter since it is off a 78 280z? and should I get a new reman starter or a used good one like this work? Oh, and thank you for the help!

Just confused due to price difference and title description. thanks!
  22. Really?? Thanks a ton! less money out of my pocket!
  23. Hi, so my starter is dead. RIP. It clicks once and silence. So I had a question regarding replacement. My car came with an automatic, which it still has now, but I am eventually going to change it to manual. But I need to replace the starter ASAP. So, I need an AT starter no matter what for right now, but will it work once I change to manual? or will I need to get the MT starter later? Just trying to judge how much I should spend on the starter. and if this did come up, I did use the search button and google. Thanks!
