  1. Same problem here on my 79. I got it free from my dad. There were a lot of older parts that needed replacement so I just used duct tape as a temporary fix. Ended up ordering one from zcarsource.com
  2. I've been suffering for a while with a lot of vibration in my 79 ZX. I knew the car had worn ball joints and bushings that were badly deteriorated. I just had all the bushings replaced, the rear differential mount, the ball joints and the tie rods (one of which looked like it was barely holding together). Huge difference in the ride and handling. There steering is tighter and even though there is no power steering it does turn easier.
  3. thanks
  4. My dad was the original owner on my 1979 280zx. For some reason when he bought it he told the dealer he didn't like the mags and told them to just put stock wheels on it. I currently have 195/70 R14 tires on the car. I'd like to replace both the wheels and tires, but haven't really decided on what size rims to go with. Is there any reason other than personal choice it would be better to go up to a larger size rim?

My father bought a 280zx in 1979 when I was in college. I've coveted it ever since and last summer he offered it to me as a gift. Took me 6 months to clean the garage out and I just picked it up last week. I've been reading the site for 6 months and picked up a lot of great information.
