Nononono not the mufflers with the valves, we had one of them on a Subaru, they are a bit gaudy and big and chrome - the little flap thing in the exhaust is what i'm on about, you pull the string in the cabin and hey presto, your car is quiet Apexi make them, best invention ever, you could also cut a section out the size of a muffler and keep the pipe, then weld the bugger back in once it's passed? This one is priced quite steeply, i only paid $100 for mine brand new. http://justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=17599

I had a super noisy little polo that used to get pulled over a lot for being too loud. If you can get yourself an exhaust control valve that can be hidden in the exhaust itself and the control in the cabin hidden you shoyld be set. Just don't.drive around with it shut, your car will hate you.

Far out that car is very hot. I'm with Mr Kid-K on the problem - unless... Are you 100% sure they were undamaged?

Eeeep I guess it's not a proper Datsun unles there is primer somewhere on it! Can the toxic green be shiny at least - please....
  5. Thank you
  6. No fighting! Please... If my Dot knew she was causing controversy she'll get a complex. I might pull this EOI and readvertise later, I'm not desparate to sell her and who knows I might even be able to finish it off down the track. If you are really interested please feel free to PM me because it deserves more love than I give it at this point in time, and if it went to a good home I would be stoked... I guess even if it was OS (but you would need to post photos ) I might even get it registered for shits and giggles and see how many Spotto threads I can get into. This was an EOI thread - and my gosh did I get interest in it! If a Mod could close this thread it would be very much appreciated. Thanks Steph

Maybe the seller had second thoughts?

You beat me to it... I know the style of car - but not sure on price/rarity...
  9. Stephy posted a post in a topic in 240K Skyline
Does she look like this? I have never seen a 260c 2dr in the flesh - but I imagine they would be pretty rare... Very nice looking car. Very retro! Not sure on how much they're worth tho sorry.

When is the styling side of things happening
  11. I'm too attached to it and I think she gets sea sick...
  12. Do you know how much I have spent on this? How many hours I have put into this to get it to where it is at? It wasn't all Matt, I basically took this car resto under my wing. (ready for rego might I add, had the SI forms filled in ready to go). I'm not a keyboard warrior - and I don't sh!t talk either so if i don't like someone, they will not get it to put it bluntly. (You know the story of the last car i sold, turned two people down before I found a driver for it. "Pay $500 extra and get your Hyundai!" Poor girl didn't know how to take that comment...) It is what it is - and it will go to an enthusiast I will make sure of it. Stupid I know, but this isn't just a car to me and if the right person comes along prices are open to negotiation. Sorry - don't know how to put frilly edges on things... One of my bad points I guess.
  13. Love classic Skyline porn. Thanks for that!

Are you after a set of decent doorskins?
  15. Oh - and there is no way I am selling it to anyone overseas. My Dot will not leave the country (kinda aiming for not leaving the state - come on Taswegians!!!!!)
  16. No current pics sorry, it's shoved in the corner at home and i only have progress shots, so none of the whole car, i'll try and dig them off photobucket tonight when i get home - not letting it go for less than $4k - I need $5k but it owes me a heap more... She isn't any oil painting, but the hard work has all been done. It literally only needs the body neatening up, the rust patches fixed and paint. She needs to go because i basically do not want it outside - I have another Coupe (which is a one owner type job which came with another Coupe as a parts car!) and I can't justify having two (and a half) Coupes when I know there will be someone who can love and attend to it more than me (pathetic hey!). Not desparate to sell - so if the right buyer comes along I will negotiate. It's a pretty reasonable price considering it's complete, running and could go for rego (i was going to put SI on it once it was painted). Any way - enough of my life story - here are some more details I have, it's cut and paste off an ad i have in one of my VW forums: It is time to say goodbye... I am running out of room and opposed to putting my Miss Dot outside - I was going to sell her. 1973 Manual 240K GL Coupe Then: It was not complete and missing some parts We got her about 3 years ago - needing a lot of love and attention. Rust in the panels, but no structural rust in floor or pillars. Interior was so-so, missing a lot of different small bits. The car would start - but there were a lot of wiring gremlins i.e. lights not working, fuses blowing, randomly stopping. Standard L24 with some head port work and a bigger cam, but was not running properly and needed a tune. Fuel injection had been put onto it but that was another nightmare. Now: Almost full re-wire, we've hidden a lot of the wiring in the engine bay and moved the old wire loop fuse box from the engine bay and replaced it with a "modern" style fuse box now located in the cabin. Sourced all missing interior parts and now it is a lot neater inside. Major tune so now it will start first go and idle correctly (and oh my gosh does she sound nice) Volvo 4pot brakes. Hotwire mags (a bit sexy) Best bits: It is actually reliable! THE SOUNDDDDDDDDDDDD - OH MY GOD! It is one of the best sounding vehicles I have ever heard. With the exhaust and lumpy idle - just heaven. It pulls very hard in the top end. All remaining rust has been killed so it will not spread. THE CAR IS 100% COMPLETE - no parts missing (ALL CHROME TRIMMINGS) The only thing i didn't get around to was putting a surge tank in - so when the fuel tank is low and you swing around a corner it struggles a bit to get the fuel to the engine. Could do with another tune because i think it could run better. She isn't any oil painting - but this car is ready for the bodyworks, and it is with much sadness that I have to part with her. This car has had a lot of work put into it and I will be screening buyers because i want it to go to a good home. Looking for $5,000 - but this is a very special rare car. PM if interested. (Thanks Preen for helping me with this ) Not registered - but if the right person comes along I'll put a new battery in it and organse a permit so you can drive her home... Steph
  17. Launceston, TAS. 1973. Manual. Freight $1500 - $2000 (already got the quote for Syd area for someone else).

Lots of potential there - if the car is complete (it appears to be) then it makes life a lot easier with projects.
  19. Well - I have been snooping in this forum for a little while now and have recently signed up and opened my own account... I have been toying with the idea of selling one of my 240K coupes. :disappoin There is a genuine reason for this... It will have to go outside shortly and none of my babies sleep outside! No pics yet as this is for EOI only - so if you are interested let me know text 0417 159 700 as I don't check this site very often(reception is patchy where I live so calls cut out a fair bit - text is the best way to catch me). This car is 100% complete and running, not registered though - I basically have this car ready for bodyworks, but with 3 project cars on the go I have the love for this car, just not the time to finish it... No structural rust, great condition original interior, and all the remaining rust has been killed so it will not spread, but most panels need repair in the usual spots. If anyone is interested in it, I'm happy to put a new battery in and organise a permit so you can drive it home. Steph

Well. Hello Datsun world! I'm here as I am starting to take an interest in Datsuns, as I am lucky enough to be co-owner (well I think they're all mine) not 1 but 3 Datsun 240k GL Coupes. I've always been into older cars (mainly watercooled VWs) and my (and Matt's) stable has consisted of the following over the past few years: Miss Dot (sorry about the quality of that pic) (she is being rebuilt at the moment...) Another one for good measure What it used to look like... Oh yes and I can't forget the Camira... Well - I haven't got any photos of the third 240k as I have no room at the moment to keep it here - and none of my babies sleep outside (not even the $500 Camira!) So will need to make a tough decision in the near future and sell one of them... Any way - Hello everyone, I hope to learn a lot, look at some ideas and follow some build threads! (and hopefully start one of my own soon - once i've finished building my VWs!) Cheers Steph
