$35,000 73 240z?
If this was really worth $35K, for whatever reason, he would explain it in the ad, not pull the old salesman trick of enticing people..."Oohh, this one has something special...But I'm not telling."

Special 280z?
He said he imported it from Florida to Australia.

Special 280z?
Hey guys, Was this a special model or year with the underdoor plates? I really like this bronze one, but I don't understand when he says that it has a different body style than the 240z and 260z. I thought the 240z and 280z had the same body shell? Mike

how do i remove the pilot bearing
I don't know how large this bushing is, but for my VW starter bushing I used a tap. Thread it into the bushing for a couple threads then pull on the tap. Mike

72 240Z Parts-Car near Dayton, Ohio $795.00
Nice deal. Yeah, I was using craiglook.com (which is now claz.org) until a few days ago. Now it doesn't show me any of these Z's that are clearly in the craigslist database. Mike

1973 240Z Refreshtoration – 901 Silver
Rich, Did Maaco bake the car after painting?

24 months of intensive restoration, and I'm almost done.
$125K asking price and I'm the one who needs to get real. Thanks for making me laugh. You can buy a Vette for much less. And a Vette has modern EVERYTHING. Good luck, though.

Yep, he won't get 1/3 that price.

Really cheap donor car for sale
So did you look at the car?

Here is my 260z.
I think one of the lessons of life is to not regret the things you've done...just use them as learning experiences. Even if you did pay too much - and it looks like you didn't - so?...Don't let it get in the way of enjoying a really cool car.

Are you in Pittsburgh? I'm in Pittsburgh. I considered it, but was put off by the fiberglass panels. Mike

Replaced master/slave cylinders - still no pressure
Motive makes a nice pressure bleeder for European cars, they might have an adaptor for the Z's fluid reservoir. It takes all the pain out of bleeding brakes. Mike

takes about 20 tries until it car starts...but rough idle
A starter can have a bad spot on commutator, where little or no electricity flows through the contacts. And when the solenoid pushes the gear out it moves the armature just a tiny bit, enough to get to a good spot. Yep, that can happen. It could be your problem, but it sounds like you have a few problems. Keep in mind that the starter only turns the engine, it's not reponsible for whether the engine starts. If you turn the key and the starter doesn't turn the engine then you've got a problem in the starter-solenoid-battery-ignitionswitch circuit. If the starter turns but the engine doesn't start then you've got issues related to fuel or spark or timing. You need more investigating.

Radio/Turn signals/Battery
Just because you haven't hurt yourself yet doesn't make it a good idea.

Agreed value. What's it worth?
Cool beast, though.

Only 280Z had vented hood, right?
I think they look cool, too. I just wanted to be well armed. Thanks.

Am I Imagining ...
From Wikipedia: "In America the Z-car went on hiatus from 1997 to 2002, as Nissan focused more on SUVs and was also in some financial trouble. To keep Z-car interest alive, Nissan launched a restoration program in 1998 for which they purchased original 240Zs, professionally restored them, and re-sold them at dealerships for about $24,000."

Only 280Z had vented hood, right?
I've seen two 240Z's recently. One had a vented hood and one had vents in the fenders. These aren't original, right? The replaced hood makes me suspect front end crash. Mike

Starting Problems
Do you have a multimeter? Measure primary and secondary resistance of the coil. I'm not sure what the spec is for your coil, but maybe someone will chime in. Disconnect the coil and measure: Primary - between the two side terminals (one is labelled + and one is -) Secondary - between the center tower and one of the side terminals Primary should be almost zero, secondary should be several thousand ohms.
