    yer surprising they are going for around 15k for a basic Z australian to around 40-50k for a good orginal, and around 35k for a perfect modded one, good priceing i think, if i were rich, id buy another.. haha but yer what most attracted me was the 2 door early skylines, they are going for around 15-20k with a worked L28 etc, thats what i am looking at. also theres a 4 door early skylines twin turbo triple mukini intercooled L31. looks damn crayz

    yer i wasn't interested in importing one, i just wasn't sure if they came in the turbo L28 version... as i hadn't seen any turbo 280zx on the auction sites, I talked a guy who used to race Zs back in the 80s, early 90s, and they had a L20et, that used a LD28 crank, and other approriate parts to make it a 3ltr engine, with a bigger turbo and a few other things, and he was pumping out over 350hp, which he used to race with a few other buddies of his, was good to talk to the guy, he said just the stock L20et with a few breather mods, and boost, was pretty capable, but acted like the RB20det off boost, which meant it has no torque off boost, i enquired about this to a few import companys here, and they said they are very very rare, and usually in bad condition, but actaully don't fetch that high a price, so you could get one into australia for less than 5g, which was surprising

    Did the 280zx come out a turbo version in japan, i've been looking at the auctions in japan lately, and i hardly see a 280zx, let alone a 280zx turbo version, as these would end up to be pretty cheap to import to australia i think, as it would be under the 15+ import rule, but i think i read somewhere that the turbo version was a US spec only, not sure about it, i know someone here would know

    a guy over hear down in melbourne, has a 280zx 2 seater turbo 5spd, that has had alot of work, and it goes damn crayz, and looks awesome, its low and has rims, and has perfect paint, he had it imported i think from US and converted to RHD using a wrecked aus spec 280zx, was done in late 80s.. 280zx 2+2s look like 260z 2+2s, just not my style,

    -------------engine--------------- 240z carbs with k&N filters 6-2-1 extractors, 2.25" exhaust with a fat dump tip 280zx distributer and coil (new breaker plate from keilor nissan) 5spd is out of a 82 280zx with 20k old clutch 3.9 ratio R200 Rear diffearential from a 280zx engine is basically stock, but with a tad more compression than original, and larger pistons 40cc rather the stock 36cc i think they are, all work done by truline performance in essendon. The engine had $1800 just in parts and machine work, spent on it last year but its only done around 20k since rebuild, and treated right. I've replaced that many parts in the car that i've spent over 10g just on the car already, and thats just in the parts that i have bought, me and my dad do the work ourselves new suspension (shocks and springs) springs are 2inch lower, new front urathane bushes, new ball joints, new rear wheel bearings, new moustache bar, new front tie rods, new fuel pump alot more that i just forgot about, and i have it all just about in receipts ----------------the body---------- Rust, is hardly any for the year of the car, there is a 10cent rust hole, that is at on the body inside the drivers door, which you can't see unless you open the door, floors are good (slight surface rust no problem thou) the bad part is the passanger door, as the pillar was slightly pushed in, easily repairable, as it just needs to be pulled out and the door aligned again, as it closes harshly and i think there is rust in the door skin, but no holes, don't think its anything bad, the paint in't to bad, its blue/purple with a slight pearl thou it, and it looks like a dogy job looks fantastic in photos, and at nite, but during the day you can see the chips and all that.. but the good part also is, as i've orderd a reconditioned front and rear bumpers, and are nice and cromed, and all holes welded up etc. also i've got a rear BRE wing sitting at home, that i havn't put on yet, which will go with the car, also i've got a new front spoiler on the car, that is still in fiberglass, also have a slightly dented non vented bonnet sitting at home also, but its red... i put a new hatch on the car, as the old one has some rust, and thats got new weather stripping. also im buying some exterior peices window trim etc... ------------interoir-------------- passanger seat has a rip or 2, drivers seat is a diffearnt type, but same style, I've got seat covers so you can't see it, carpets are all good, dash has a crack, all gauges work, its got a cd player with 7x10, and 10cm pioneers but nothing worth mentioning... I've got a set of 14inch globe wheels, and a set of 16inch performance wheels, both need new tyres, I'm still undecided on which set i'll sell with the car, , and if i am i'll be keeping the 16s unless the buyer wants them, and gives me the same amount that i could sell them for I'm looking for a quick sale, with the 16s i'm looking for over 5300, but with the 16s i'm looking for over 4400, and i'll discuss with buyer about RWC etc I'm in real desperation to sell the car now, as i have found another car that i am desperate to buy. any offer will be considerd call me on 93902470, i am in sydenham or email on zpeed@hotmail.com or sborysiewicz@ozemail.com
  10. i went from a stock 3.7 to a 3.9 and it only had like 200rpm differance at 100kph, so id say a 4.1 would be around a 500-600rpm differance, which would be considerable, so it would be reving at around the 3500rpm mark on the freeway, thats just a guess, this is pretty high for L series or any 6 series motor.. but if your not going to be doing much freeway driving, it doesn't really matter, up to you, the loudness on the freeway is more a drowning noise at that stable RPM level, and is bearable, its really up to you, i think when you go a 4.1 you won't wanna go back, but with big HP, it will spin to much with a 4.1 compared to a 3.9 If you are going turbo id recomend a 3.7-3.9 ratio, as it give the turbo a bit more time to spool, but its up to you, when you think about it, most jap cars, come out with a 4.1

    yer, its not a one off thing, lots of people snap them, i know this as friends have broken them, race cars and street cars, most people just weld them back up, as they are becoming harder to find therefore expensive, when i took my broken one off, it was welded up once before, but it didn't snap in the welded spot...

    hey I'm trying to figure out if my ignition leads are stuffed, and am using a multi-meter to check the ohms in the leads, which i was told i was supposed to check... I checked the leads by taking off both plugs and using the needles to against the metal part of the leads... they have come back quite irregular, with readings, 11,11,8,7,9,9 and the lead from the coil to the distributer being only like 3, Not sure if that is supposed to be like that, but i would assume the longer leads have a differant resistance or whatever its called, I'm not a electrician, and no basically jack all about electronics, so just asking what should i be checking for and if i am even checking the right thing, as i am reading ohms, i can read for voltage and amps, on the multi-meter, but i was told that ohms what the way to go... any help here would be help, as i'm getting a slight staggering, feels like a slight miss, like timing, but timing is set perfectly, only acceleration and trying to work out where it is coming from, as i'm pretty sure its electrical, as the carbs are sync (240z carbs) and i've tested diffearnt mixtures with no prevail.... I've got a 280zx dizzy with 280zx coil, the leads are recently new, not sure about the coil to dizzy one, as i don't really remember buying a new one of those, also the plugs are quite new also..

Problems between 240z and 260z interoir, is marginal, the main problem is the dash and center console, but a 260z one bolts up to it anyway, so its not a real problem.. but could come up with some issues, drivetrain wise... all the bolts are the same for the engine, transmission, excepts for the differantial if you have a R200 or a R180, but if you take ur rear suspension out of the 260z as a whole, it will just bolt straight up the the 240z as a whole as well so its no real problem... there is a bit of work needed for everything, more time consuming getting everything right, and then reliseing ur not happy with ur own stuff so you want new stuff... as you are a uni student, id suggest, doing it over the summer holidays, as you would have jack all time to do it any other time, unless u don't really do work at uni, like ur doing a arts course,, hehe just jk.. as its a shell, a bit of differant wiring would be needed, but i wouldn't stress about that much at all... i've seen it done before, so i wouldn't stress, just think of what u'll get in the end..

  23. datto Zed - there was a guy in victoria who was selling a shell with no windows or interoir, that emailed me a while back.. 1 month or so, he might still have it, it was rust free and perfect drunkenmaster - my friend got new leather rear made up for his car, and its got the diamond type pressed in it, new carpets made up, and his seats re-upolsterd, and he just put it in, and looks damn nice, like new... his email is sulio666@hotmail.com he will be more than happy to help out another Z'er we are in melbourne also...

    warren from Zworx will fix ur chassis no problem.. give him a call on 95875500 well i have a 260z 2 seater for sale... looking at around 6500 with RWC, and have spent like what 1 bravo 6 said getting the car just right... now i don't want it no more, about the 2+2... personally i wouldn't bother getting a 2+2.. they don't look as good and don't go as well, and not as respected... as a 2 seater.. I had my 2 seater since i was 17, and loved the 2 seats, don't worry about ur mates wanting lifts. one of them will buy a commodore or falcon, and u'll be killing them all day long with the Z... btw my 2 seater 76 260z is for sale atm, whopps already said that.. hehe.. i posted it in the sale section, not sure if its still there, it will be in the trading post this thursday.. $6500
