My first reaction when I heard the warning to Syria was "bloody hell - Is George trying to make up for the perceived mistakes of WWII whereby they had the army in Europe and regretted not rolling onto Moscow as that is what Churchill wanted to do after defeating Germany.:stupid: If i was in charge of an Arab country at the moment I would be keeping a very low profile as some mad cuss might just want to shoot it off. biker

Just another word of advice If you start adjusting things such as balance, air mixture, etc, take a note on where the settings are before you start e.g screw in mixture nut but count the turns until it is seated. If things go wrong, at least you can get it back to where you started :classic: biker

Get someone else to do themROFL Seriously, it will all depend on what configuration you are running. If I follow the book, mine will run like a pig as I am running a cam and advanced timing. It states that you need one turn on the screw underneath. I found that mine will run better with two turns. I think it is also essential that you get a balancing tool to get them right. Once you achieve this, car will run nice and smooth :cheeky: Biker
  4. I am running with KYB which were around $120 each in Brisbane. I could not afford the Koni as they were twice the price. biker

Sparuns I used to think the same thing about getting everything chromed but after seeing a few efforts on this site from metal polishing, I will probably stick with the polishing. Gives you something to do on lonely wintry nights biker:cry:
  6. I hope to be there as a spectator. Thought about an entry to the sprints but could not get past the missus for the cash. Just watch out for the green metallic front end dented Z:love: Might not look pretty but I have got it handling well:devious:

If it has been sitting for a year and you just want to crankc it over to get it fired up I myself would do the following 1. Drain carbies of fuel - probably gone to water:cry: 2. Change Oil - probably gone to sludge 3. Remove plugs 4. Drop down some oil (tablespoon in each) into the chambers and leave overnight- just for any rust spots that may have formed on the cyclinder lining. 5. Clean up points 6. Replace plugs 7. Turn over engine without spark to get the oil moving in the cyclinder (remove rotor button) 8. Replace rotor button, cap 9. Cross fingers and fire her up. :classic: Once you het it started don't keep it going for too lon. Only enough to have a listen. I would then get the rocker cover off and do the valve clearances and also making sure that oil is coming up the oil ways. The above assumes that you have strong spark at the plugs, fuel, water and a strong battery. :classic:

Thanks for the pics Mike Definitely an MX5. The Eunos was brought out in Aus in two styles, one being a luxury Mazda here in Australia similar to the 929 and the 2nd a little sports car with an 1800 V6 motor in it. The chassis was based on the Mazda 323. Pretty hard to find them in the wreckers but I now know what to look for.

Go for a lightened flywheel - best change I've made on any car to improve acceleration While you are in there you might as well have a look at the clutch plate and renew the rear oil seal around the crank:classic: You would not want to do it all again later Biker

My rego in Queensland read 1030kg. I weighed my car at Willowbank late last year and it came in at 1046kg. I was carrying 1/2 tank of gas plus oils so that would put the car back to around 1020kg. biker
  16. Bloody typical Before I bought a Zed I used to live around the corner from Castlereagh Road and drove up and down it every week. I now live in Queensland, a 1000 kilometres away:cry: Looks like i might have to get one of the sons to go on down there to check things out:D Birthday, Fathers Day Xmas, etcROFL

I have wacked a breather on my rocker as well but have now noticed some fumes in the car. Even though this sucks air into the engine, someone has mentioned before that the thing actually exhausts air as well hence the fumes.

Alpha If the mechanic you took it to was on the Gold Coast and he runs a green Z and a white 1600, then you can't go wrong with him. He gets those 2 cars motoring along so he definitely knows his business.

$10 gets you a new fuel filter. The oil coming from the pump just indicates that the seal inside was a goner letting oil get out the little relief hole at the bottom of the pump. I also wonder if any of the crud (if that is the problem) got through into the carbys. There is another small filter in there as well. Start at the fuel filter and work your way from there. I would slice it open to see what was in it (carefully of course). If you have a see through filter it should look like a nice Tooheys New Beer. Could be worth a phone call to the mechanic if the filter does not solve the problem:disappoin

Okay Tanny Definition of a feral woman Ahhhh - looks like she has just come down from the mountains, usually young and nubile, with firm ummmmm calf muscles and in good need of a hose down. I suppose if when I was growing up they were called hippies and they all looked good to me when I was young:cheeky:

Rick forgot to mention that is the Australian Navy guns that are firing on the targets when the British Army are requesting artillery support. Compliments of Her Majesty's Australian Ship (HMAS) Anzac. They are also utilising HMAS Kanimbla as the fleet command post leading approx 8 US/UK ships due to its advanced radar and guidance systems that can support ground force and air assaults. It also acts as a processing station for the POW's when necessary. Our contributions are small due to our nation's size, but hell they are bloody good. We can't produce quantity so we concentrate on quality. We Aussies don't like to shout from the roof tops about the things we do but it is frustrating that we don't get an acknowledgement. In fairness, George W invited our Prime Minister over to the US to join Tony Blair for the brieifing yesterday but he refused stating he needed to be on home turf during the fight. Maybe George has our PM on speed dial now?? :cheeky:

We once again had the students from 10years of age onwards ptortesting against the Iraq war again. We have had three interesting quotes of late since from varying sources. 1. Interview with Aussie defence personnel in the Gulf state "We do not mind the protesters because we are here to protect their freedom of speechand their right to protest" 2. Interview with 12 year old at protest asked if he knew who was in charge of Iraq "umm Sam someone" 3. Interview with another protester around 16 years asked do you know what Saddam has done to the Kurds repying "It's his turf man, how would you like someone invading you" Final question that I have asked as well as many others and cannnot be answered "Why don't you bloody students protest on a Saturday?" Last Sunday someone decided to stop on one of the main bridges in his car and said "I am protesting against the war man". Then loudly played music with several feral women dancing around the car. News reports several hours later stated that police were negotiating with them to move. What the hell is there to negotiate about, move the car or will push it off the bridge and throw you all in the slammer!. I think this is a good summation of our current protesting in this country.
