I was running Champion Gold but seemed to have problems with oiling up (tired motor doesn't help.) Switched to NGK's on 1st son's advice as he is heavily involved in motorbike racing in Oz. As bikes rev at around 16000rpm, I followed his advice and haven't had a probem since.:classic:

Ok guys After getting bugged by the creaks coming from the rear end of late (just the car), I decided to have a good look on the weekend only to find that the LH inner transverse bolt can move side to side by about an inch. Maybe this relates to people following me around a track saying the car looks tailee. The RH bolt can move around a quarter of an inch but I suppose it must have some movement as it is known as a flexible bushing. I intend to replace all the bushings I can at the back. I have read some horror stories about replacing these bushes and people destroying bolts, inner casings etc, and generally having a lousy time getting them out and back in again. The repair manual seems to give the impression that it is not all that bad.:cheeky: The question is "Is it worth doing it at home with limited resources or admit defeat in the early stage and send it off to an expert preventing further expense from beating things to death with a mighty large hammer (the preferred weapon of choice agaist difficult subjects including computers).":disappoin Be interested in opinons and further warnings of what to watch for:ermm:

Thanks Steve Don't make them like they use to - all the DDG's are 50 fathoms below the Pacific discarded as too old. Unfortunately the latest news is that the Collins class subs are trying to join them unintentionally.

After my alternator destroyed itself one Friday night before an outing, my local auto electrician offered to fix it for $A250 and maybe it would work or alternatively, he could install a Ford Laser internally regulated unit for $A150. I went with the Ford model. Fitted nicely and has higher output and the amp meter works as well.:cross-eye

g260 Your rubbing salt into a nasty wound!! With the Wiggles being sent there by us and the Teletubbies invading across the Atlantic (they are British aren't they- no one else could have thought them up, surely) there is nowhere to hide in the USA. I am starting to feel sory for them all :cheeky:

Agree with the others that the KYB are ok for the street but show their shortcomings on the track especially after a few laps and they start to heat up. Go for the Koni or Bilstein solution
  8. Afildes Can you keep us up to speed on how you go with getting your car accross the line for SC. Seems like getting any jap car inot SC is a challenge. Thanks

You may be talking about the jerkiness of the throttle. I suffer from it as well and may do something about it one day. There is an article at the following site http://www.zhome.com/ Look up under Technical Articles Index. It talks about throttle linkage problems under intake. :classic:

Yep Alphadog, that is a true story. The Cockroaches were part of an Australian band renaissance around the early 80's with groups such as the Australian Crawl, Cold Chisel, etc. The Roaches had a couple of top 10 hits in Australia but did not make it big overseas. I myself did not like this age of rock and roll as I thought it monotonous and devoid of talent. I rather stay with Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin - that was the great time of good music:cheeky:

My cousin used to be in a rock band called the Cockroaches. Did not bad and they sold a couple of albums. To cut a long story short, the band wanted to move in a new direction and my cousin said "I'm leaving, you guys are nuts and are never going to make it!" They called themselves the Wiggles!! :disappoin
  12. I have the stock headlights as well and yes they are pretty woeful. I have seen the Hella H4 lights used by other people in their Zeds and they look okay. Speaking with my auto sparkie, he told me that the biggest problem with my dim lights is the thickness and length of the wiring used in the original. The current has to travel too far and loses power as there is no relay to keep it up to standard. There are wiring diagrams around that shows how to fix these. Use the search function on this site.

Does anyone have a photo of a catch can setup and where they have located it (without removing the battery from the original site). I changed my breather to a K&N filter and have noticed some new oil smells of late. But since I have just completed some work underneath, I am currently waiting for things to settle down/burn off to see if the smells remain.

Nice photo of the chicane - I was giving the brakes a touch myself but trying to go as flat out as possible. The new mag is out and contains stories on Noosa and Mt Cotton. Unfortunately no Zed pics this time. I found the mag yesterday in a newsagent here in Briz (Cnr George Street and Charlotte) However, you can ring them on 61 03 9805 1700 for details on stockists. Here is the website address on subcriptions http://www.sports-racer.com/subscription.html

Change to hear a good story about the police. I know the pub you are probably talking about - quaint place. One thing about the run from Sydney to Brisbane is that the mountain range at Murrundi is now all but gone - now that used to be an interesting part of the trip.

Hey Guys Does anyone know where I can get my hands on an adjustable negative camber system (read cheap) which runs from 0 degree up to 5 degrees. I have heard of fixed systems but also shim setups. I guarantee that many cars in Qld (Aust) are currently building theirs just to beat me (read Rick Blundell). Need to keep an edge:geek:

Does anyone know where I can get hold of an adjustable negative camber system. One that will allow me to adjust from current o degree up to 5 degree negative camber. I have heard of systems that are fixed but also systems that use a shim to adjust. Just don't know where to get my hands on a decent one (read cheap).

Thanks SJ. I did not know there was a drain hole in the body. I will start to look for it. By the way, I went down to Repco to take on the battle of the missing Z references for after market fuel pumps but being New Years Day they are closed. However, Bunnings Hardware were open and managed to get all the parts to work around the house.

Thanks for the help guys. It is the mechanical pump on the motor that I am after and am running duel round top Hitachi's. I did not discuss importing one from Japan with Nissan as I am used to the old days of the boat going around the world before it would get here. A little impatient!! The Nissan solution was to run across the road and buy a Holley Blue from their racing department. Bloody Hols over here and the whole country just about shuts down. The parts book that the guy was looking at is an after market book from an after market shop that does not mention any Z's. The missus has told me to go off to the local hardware store to buy some things for the house, so I may pop in again and try and sort it as to why they do not mention the Z. I agree about putting pressure on Nissan and may wait until then to see if they can order one in. Nothing wrong with the current one as it still pumps fuel but it is dropping oil all over everything and yes I have replaced the seals. Asked a few other guys if they had the problem and they advise that the only solution is a new pump as it is just too old. PS The missus is looking over my shoulder and insists that I use the following icon

Forgot to mention that their parts book did not have any Z listed therefore I could not compare.
