  1. Have seen this as a problem with some 280z EFI motors with electric fuel pump unable to pickup fuel from the tank. The right corner and angle with a low fuel tank means spluttering and drop in revs. Important when you are counting 1/100 of a second in lap times. As Ivan said, its a go between little tank to prevent this. Myself, with twin SU's and mechanical pump never seem to have any hesitation no matter how low the fuel is in the tank.

To 1 Bravo 6 I applaud and support your comments. No one outside of Oz has heard of Long Tan either. I also support Lee's Z comments about having the capacity to have a discussion without getting overtly critical against any one particular race. Unfortunately, as someone once said, there would be a lot less wars if the politicans had to duke it out themselves. :tapemouth

I know a guy here in Brisbane who has been knocking out some varieties of front spoilers. He has also posted on this site earlier under the handle of BBALLS. Might be worth giving him a call as he has listed his mobile. I am intending to buy one of his spoilers. :cross-eye

It's a bummer its is in US. By the looks of it, it would fit my 73 Z perfectly. Are the feet extra????
  5. Had similar experience couple of weeks ago but I think the driver of the 350Z recognised the 240Z as something of prehistoric origin that he no longer wanted to know about. Felt like a Clint Eastwood movie staring at each other across the intersection not knowing who would draw the thumbs up first. Maybe I should take the intiative giving him the nod but I just get the feeling that they are not sure where the Zed comes from?::mad: :devious:

Sounds too big for me. In the days of old, a 6 cylinder of an L24 size would not get more than a 2 barrel and no greater than 450cfm. But I am talking about GMH straight sixes Can't see things changing :beard:
  7. Hey Cuong We must have cars pretty close to the same. Mine is green and manual but I don't think it started out as that as I have found traces of red in places. Currently running an L26. My Compliance plate reads 9/73 and have a shell number of HS30 103475 - four along from yourself. Biker:D
  8. Thought I would add my 2 bobs worth. I have a September 73 240Z which has a MPH speedo. The metric system was introduced into Australia in 1971 tackling individual industries and the whole process targeted to be completed by 1982. As with everything, it takes time and cannot be achieved overnight (we rest a lot over here). Manufacturers had several years to comply with the conversion which included speedo's and bolts/nuts. :classic:

Ozzy Guy As you said there are consequences about being too patriotic like in the USA but there are also consequences for being too blaise like us here in Oz. I know its bloody hard to get a balance. I am constantly astounded of the stories I hear about what is taught in schools in Oz which relate very little to what we have achieved in this country. We may have been wrong in a lot of instances but looking at what we have today, who could complain?? People thought that they were doing the right thing at the time. :disappoin

In regard to the interior photo posted by Smokey. In USA, does the centre console come with an arm rest or is this an add on? In Oz, I have never seen one. We usually just have dish so that things can bounce out when we travel over our fair highways and byways.
  14. Nigel I wacked on KYB's about six months ago. There okay but as I give them a good workout I notice that they start to fade after getting hot. Most people I know jump onto the Koni's but as previously mentioned, not cheap. You could also look up Bilstein but they are dearer than the Koni's. Try this site as they have on line quoting for shocks and seem to cater for all brands. http://www.shockreco.com.au/motorsport.htm :cheeky:

    Hey back
  16. Was just looking at a magazine in the Newsagent and seen something similar advertised for $55.00 All you have to do is wander down to the Newsagent and look for the "Just Parts" mag which lists the parts in alphabetical order. Had a picture of it. Got to be under D or N or S (narrowed down a bit) as these are the areas I looked at. biker

Thanks guys - I have heard that it was a hell of a lot easy taking the whole lot out and working on it on the bench. I will keep my fingers crossed and make sure the been fridge is well stocked when I tackled this one. Hit the track again in a fortnight so I have got incentive.

2manyZ's Air chisel, round file, hole saw?????:disappoin How about a mean butter knife Ok only joking, do have more than a butter knife. Is it worth taking on the spindle pin bushings (these are the ones closest to the wheel with the locknut in the middle?). If not, will it have any affect on handling in your experience. Secondly will replacing the mustache bar bushings help handling and if yes, are they hard to tackle as well?
  20. well if your looking for straight line zip and with that much money, I would personally check out my diff ratio. If it is track orientated zip you want, sink your money into suspension.:devious:

I was running Champion Gold but seemed to have problems with oiling up (tired motor doesn't help.) Switched to NGK's on 1st son's advice as he is heavily involved in motorbike racing in Oz. As bikes rev at around 16000rpm, I followed his advice and haven't had a probem since.:classic:

Ok guys After getting bugged by the creaks coming from the rear end of late (just the car), I decided to have a good look on the weekend only to find that the LH inner transverse bolt can move side to side by about an inch. Maybe this relates to people following me around a track saying the car looks tailee. The RH bolt can move around a quarter of an inch but I suppose it must have some movement as it is known as a flexible bushing. I intend to replace all the bushings I can at the back. I have read some horror stories about replacing these bushes and people destroying bolts, inner casings etc, and generally having a lousy time getting them out and back in again. The repair manual seems to give the impression that it is not all that bad.:cheeky: The question is "Is it worth doing it at home with limited resources or admit defeat in the early stage and send it off to an expert preventing further expense from beating things to death with a mighty large hammer (the preferred weapon of choice agaist difficult subjects including computers).":disappoin Be interested in opinons and further warnings of what to watch for:ermm:

Thanks Steve Don't make them like they use to - all the DDG's are 50 fathoms below the Pacific discarded as too old. Unfortunately the latest news is that the Collins class subs are trying to join them unintentionally.

After my alternator destroyed itself one Friday night before an outing, my local auto electrician offered to fix it for $A250 and maybe it would work or alternatively, he could install a Ford Laser internally regulated unit for $A150. I went with the Ford model. Fitted nicely and has higher output and the amp meter works as well.:cross-eye
