Also if anyone can answer this, are the transmission pieces interchangeable? the clutch fork, clutch plate, pressure plate and throwout bearing? or do i need to buy new ones

Most cam grinds move the powerband up the RPM range unless its a very mild grind, your best bet is to get a 5 speed from an 83 280zx and a 3.7 or 3.9 rear end

2nd gear went, followed by 5, followed by reverse all in the same trip i am screwed because this is my only current form of transportation. The other car is off the road with the engine out of it GREAT TIMING ON MY PART! i will have use of my parents vehicles for about 1 week. If anyone has a manual tranny that will fit an L engine please PM me or call 716-445-0883, Rob i live in the buffalo NY area, about 10minute drive from lake Erie hamburg beach.

Ron eventually figured out what happened, i'm sending this cam back for inspection and then he will send it to the customer. Mine should be here in about 2 weeks.. California shipping really 5-6 days sucks. He said hes giving me a free shirt even though i didn't want it, but he made it difficult to say no
  5. Does it idle fine with the gas cap open?

Isky made a mistake and sent me the cam for a V8 buick... i spoke to Ron he's a super nice guy and is going to fix this right away. Hopefully i won't have to wait another 3 weeks to put this cam in my car Pictures go from extreme joy to "wait, this isnt an L28 cam, what the hell?"

I've got a few things Extra fuel pump Used alternator (76 280z) Charcoal can 1k miles used MSA turbo style muffler Maybe a few other things I'm looking for a close ratio 5 speed still out of a 280zx i will pay for that
  8. its usually something inside the switch, in my case it was a bad +12v wire, i think its red/white? Do a few wire traces and report back

I don't know whos it is, but someone posted it on my wall. I think its gaudy, but the workmanship is incredible
  10. Well if you plan on selling parts, i could really use the extra block for my stroker build
  11. sounds like an abandoned project or someone tried to give you screwy parts on ebay to make a "complete" engine
  12. and a (then) state-of-the-art Sony stereo
  13. I'm building up my stroker engine this winter, i almost have all of the parts gathered up. The flywheel will be lightened, crank will be lightened & balance, but the thing im not sure about is getting the rods lightened up, could this lead to catastrophic failure? or are they beefy enough that i can take a few grams off them and not have to worry about it? oh, and the pistons i have will be lightened up a bit too

3$ per grind so ($36) + tax for all 12 or.. 15$ per rocker arm via rock auto ($180) + $15 shipping
  15. robftw posted a post in a topic in Help Me !!
I didn't bother because the camshaft and rockers were to be reground, and put on a P90 head instead of the N47 they originally came from

Well, i was going to get these resurfaced for my new camshaft, ISKY has already ground it and after speaking with ron he instructed me that 175 lash pads will fit However i just grabbed my old rockers about to take them to the machine shop for resurfacing and saw this... were they touch the lash pads they are all different heights. oddly, all of my lash pads are within 1-3 thousandths of each other, yet the rocker arms are 20+ ?! so what are my choices now? 1) Buy new rocker arms 2) Get each lash pad machined separately to fit

I have a set.. but the "fake chrome" lines running accross the top is peeling off, and i believe the passenger side is tearing near the top right of the door if looking from the inside out.

I think i've seen your car driving around... do you go near blasdell / hamburg area alot? i always see a 240z parked near louis on south park
  22. robftw posted a post in a topic in Exhaust
I can attest that the MSA exhaust system has drone around 2000-3500 rpm range however i think a lot of it has to do with the muffler they chose.. its not so good. I'm still waiting for my 6'' magnaflow race muffler to get here, i'll be sure to post my results

I'm asking everyone here to help me compile an exhaust note thread for the use of others. Format: Engine: Exhaust system components: muffler: Youtube: Engine: L28 EFI Exhaust system components: MSA 3-2 thermal coated header and 2.5'' exhaust pipe muffler: MSA "turbo" muffler Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsHqBo_o5NU I'll have another one monday when my 6'' magnaflow race muffler arrives
  24. Well i'm not sure it matters where you had the condenser mounted to as long as the wire is grounded somewhere, i had to completely re-do my wiring because my car didn't even come with harnesses' I grounded mine under the ballast (bolted ground to body) to clean up the engine bay a little bit. As for the Bcdd / electric fan thats strange.. its possible the bcdd failed and no longer works so the PO used its wire for the fan.. but im not exactly sure if its a constant 12v while running or not. You can keep it unplugged and it won't harm anything, you'll just have a smelly exhaust
