hi guys, i have a 72 240 and i have a question about the idle. the car starts at about 700 rpms but when it warms up, it runs at 1100 rpms. I did a quick search on the forums and i found that the manual say 650 is good but most people run at 800-900? How do i go about readjusting the idle? Thanks in advanced guys.

Sweet, thanks guys. I've been look at the spook front spoiler and am really liking it. Another question though: do you know where those struts can be had and for how much? I really wish I had some useful information to provide to the forum but alas am but young and still new to the Z. Thanks.

Doh. I just remembered that the skyline changed for 2003. I don't know much about the new generation of skylines...anybody care to fill me in?

Not to offend or insult anyone...but doesn't the skyline have a 2.6 liter twin turbo engine? Engine code RB26dett? I believe the 350z and G35 (coupe and sedan) share the VQ35de. The 350z's engine is a v6, which has/had many purists in an uproar. The skyline on the other hand has a straight six. Perhaps you're confused with the GTR sedan that Nissan is planning on bringing to the US? Anyway if I'm wrong please correct me. chris

Alan: The depth of your knowledge owns me. To everybody else: I've been looking online for different engines...trying to plan out what I have intended for my future car...wishful thinking..? Anyway I've been looking at rb20's, rb25's (rb26's are a tad too expensive for me). sr20's are also a viable alternative (although 4-bangers sound like poo). The 280zxt block also looks promising to me...but I have been unable to locate a site that sells an this engine. Perhaps I'll have to go out to a junkyard and look for it. My question is, what am I looking at for the cost of the zxt block? Any other helpful suggestions? I apologize for being such a newb on the forum. Thanks for understanding guys.

Hi there Alan. I appreciate the reply. Sadly you are correct, not the jdm ps30. I was wondering how do you tell the PS30's engine apart from the regular 2.0... and where did the 2.0 come from...? Has me mystified at the moment but I'll continue to read up on it. Thanks once again. Chris

Hi all. I'm still in the process of looking for a Z to buy. I found this 73' 240z with the Japanese 2.0 dohc engine. Excuse my ignorance but is this a good find? The first time I test drove it I fell in love with it. The car is in decent condition. There's a little bit of rust right above the hatch...and other than that I couldn't find anythign else. Now, both door handles are broken and the gauges don't light up inside. I know all of this is vague but I can't think of anymore. I'd like your guys opinions on what I should do, and if you think the repairs for this car will cost a lot? The price that the guy is asking is $1695 usd. If you need more information, reply and I'll respond with the best of my ability. I look foward to your replies. Thanks. Chris

oops i didnt mean to put "head gasket", but yes i know they're rotaries. i heard the gasket seals are defective. oh well, excuse my ignorance then.

i heard the rx-7's had a lot of problems with the head gasket...mainly going boom. anyway, with 3500, you'll find that there are plenty of z cars that need a good home. i myself am still looking for a good one, but it's hard to get money when you're senior in highschool and work a part-time job. anyway, so cal is a great place to get a z, i doubt that you have to worry about rust, but always good to do a check. i think this'll help you out (although i think i might end up regretting it as i might lose the car that i want) http://autos.recycler.com type, datsun 240z and set it to all area codes and press go. that should be a good start. happy hunting. <br> chris

haha i like it. thought i'd give some new life to this thread, now that the 350 has been in release for some time. i've taken to go through all 6 pages of the thread and read what you guys have said. whatever happened to personality? but yes, i think that the 350 looks smooth, i've seen a couple up close and it's verrrrry nice. i can understand how some of you may not like the arse, but i say more cushion for the pushin'! no offense to the ladies out there, or anybody else. so does anybody on the site own a 350 now? i'd like to hear how it performs, and im sure others on the site would be interested as well. i hear that greddy has a turbo kit available for the 350 now if you guys havent heard. well that's my two cents. 240z fund: i have enough, now on the road to z-dom

ok i know the basics of what an lsd is and what it does. what i dont get is the numbers you guys use on this site... r180, r200... so on and so fourth? it would be much appreciated if you guys could explain this difference to me, and if i were to get a KAAZ lsd, would i need a something, anything? sorry for the ignorace guys, but have to start somewhere huh? if i get an lsd, it'd probably be a 1.5 or 2 way, if that helps.

the engine you're thinking of, is the sr20de, found in older sentra se-r's. this is jdm (japanese domestic market) engine that was never offered in any of the american cars. it has a t/28 turbo that is spun on ball bearings. this s14 engine (240sx 95-98 in america) creates 220 hp and 203 lb/ft. but you are correct it is 2.0 liters. hopefully when i get a swap, it'll give the datsun better handling. perhaps weight distribution will be closer to 50/50. thanks again guys...keep posting anything of use.

yes i realize that it will be fast, no need to be harsh. im wondering like in comparison to other cars how fast will it be? can anyone estimate 0-60 time? quarter mile times.. and so on and so fourth. thanks.

my first post. i'll get straight to the point. i am looking for a 240z to buy. it will be a daily driven car, and i plan to modify it. im planning to frankenstein a sr2odet in there. does anyone know if it'll still be smog legal for a 70'-73' 240z in ca? any hints on what i should look for when i go get one? also i wonder if i tear the brakes off of a 300zx will they fit? any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks. p.s. does anyone know if the sr20det will make it that much faster?:classic:
