Yes, thats me on EBay.......
It's a very nice z and I would consider adding it to my collection. I'm out of room in my garage but would love to get a super clean 240 driver. I think you will get what you want out of it. Hang on to it for a couple more years while I sell and build a house,

Refurbishing the HVAC vacuum selector valve in a 1978 280Z -- useful info
Thanks for digging this up. On my to do list. I was hoping this would fix my air mixture. It's cold when the ac is on, and flaming hot when the heat is on. The air mixture lever doesn't do anything.

My F250 Powerstroke drivability issues
Yeah, I'm interested. My next vehicle may be a diesel truck. It would be for sure, but I dont want a dodge, or a chevy, and Toyota won't sell them in the us.

Suspension is next future planning
Yes, the lowering springs are loose when the car is jacked up. This will be true of any strut cartridge. This is normal. When I've got the car jacked up I let it down slowly and make sure that the springs seat properly. No biggie.

I haven't used the kyb personally. I know guys with 240's in my local club that have them and like them, they commented on the nice ride. One has the eibach springs. I would suggest just doing the research to be sure. The only reason I could think of that it wouldn't be recommended was if the kyb had a shorter travel

Thanks. I still have to clean up the engine compartment. It's "clean" and leak free, but it ran decent and I elected to put it off. Now it's bugging me with all of that efi wiring and ugly fuel rail etc.. I'll be putting a new motor in before long. here you go

I'm in my 40's as well. I think you will be pleased with the eibachs.. I have them on in this pic, doesn't look lowered, but looks right..

I put the eibach springs on my car, yes it lowered it an inch but I have plenty of clearance. It still sits higher than my 370 does. Never scrape or anything. The ride is fine for me. But I have poly bushings and the tokicos. I do use the stock size tires too, so they will ride a lot better than a larger rim size with shorter sidewall. I've heard good things about the kyb and their ride quality. If it were me, I would get rid of the worn out tired stock springs, do rubber bushings, or even poly, eibach springs, and kyb. That should get you where you want to be.

Did you do version 2? Just go with a map sensor, or a wideband as well?

Fix it and keep it. Even if you pic up a 240 you are going to have a lot of work to do. The 280 is very close to the 240 and with a little love it can be every bit as nice. I agree it's priced to high. I got mine for $2200. The day I bought it home, barely running with a few rust spots.. After learning how to weld and 1 year later

Awesome Bruce. If I didn't have a rebuild in mind with triples, I highly consider this. I sorted my efi out where it runs good now, but Ive sourced another l28 with n42 head and I'm thinking of a mild build with it for a next winter project

You guys offer a package for that?

Conversion to EFI from Carb
If I were going to go through the trouble of converting to efi, I wouldnt use the oem Bosch system. It's not a great efi setup. Would be just as easy to do a custom efii setup using a mega squirt ecu, map sensor, and ideally o2 sensor. The 280z system is not tunable, it's ugly, and it doesn't age well. Many 280 owners get rid of it. Seeing that you have a 240 I would think that the 280 ecu will not be tuned properly for your motor and since it doesn't use any sensors to adjust air fuel mixture, I'd say it won't work well You could use the injectors and manifold though, so all is not lost

Steel thickness difference for 240z and 280z
I believe the front fenders are the same. Not sure on the steel thickness, but I bought new oem fenders and they bend easier than what was on the car, I think this is due to the undercoat that was on the originals

Hot Start Problem - a new clue and a work-around
Oh, one more thing on the ethanol. I know ethanol has been in gas for a long time, but I believe that oil companies are putting more in than they claim. I recently had some work done on my wife's Honda relating to the cat converter, the service manager was telling me that they had been having problems with low quality gas. They had some tested out of couple of cars and found that it was way over 10% ethanol, they had one test come back at 40% !!! There is no telling what we get for gas these days
