Just curious, OJ, why not drive your Z to storage instead of the expense of putting it on a flatbed? Your Fiat made it ok. Here in New Jersey as long as the roads are salt free, I'm taking my ride out and enjoying the weather.
  3. That ebay car is the Zhette! Why? I agree with the sound of the L6. This one's and L31 with triple webers somewhere in Sweden and its kind of foggy out.
  4. You can check out this link and see response #2. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/thread42652.html I had this happen on a 72Z I had where one of the cam oilers (see pic) holes was plugged up with sludge and the cam lobe was not getting oil and caused the grinding noise. The cam oiler shoots oil on the cam lobe and keeps it lubricated. I removed the head cover and I took a paper clip and removed the sludge from the cam rail oiler hole and that cured the problem. You have a 280Z but it should be the same design. Good luck.

I had the same problem. Took the booster off of the car and shook it and the reaction disk fell to the ground. Super glued it in place and now my car stops perfectly. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/69706-reaction-disk-pictures-and-walkthrough/
  6. Good luck with the brake booster. How about some videos of the LS1 running in that 72.
  7. Here's a nice write up on the problem and a fix for it. I had the same thing happen to me a couple times. http://xenons30.com/starterrelay.html
  8. Wow, great find. Thanks for posting the pics of this series1 s30's interior metal work.

  11. You need the 15/16 brake master cylinder from a 79-81 280zx. RAYBESTOS Part # MC39277-You can get them for approximately $115-$130.00 and not the $425.00 this guy wants. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240z-Brake-Master-Cylinder-4-Wheel-Disc-NEW-RARE-/370528489441?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5645380fe1&vxp=mtr Here's a write up on the conversion. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/39435-help-what-brake-options-are-available-for-s30-z-cars/
  12. Nissan Fairlady Z432 Toyota 2000gt Mazda Cosmo Honda S800 Just got my copy of Automobile magazine and read this article. I found the online article. Awesome cars with different approaches with their engines. The Mazda with the rotary, the Honda with the one carburetor per cylinder and the awesome Fairlady and 2000gt. http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/driven/1203_at_the_dawn_of_the_rising_sun/index.html

Alfa 8C. One of the best sounding V8s out there. General Lee on an Alfa. Had to look a little closer to see the flag.
  14. Here's my setup. Tokico 1" drop springs and Tokico struts. 15 inch American Ansen wheels and Michelin 205/60/15s Pilot Exalto AS. Bought the car with the setup. Ride is a little bouncy but not too bad.
  15. Thanks for starting this thread EvZ! I'm having the same problem described in the thread that spitz17 posted. This problem is really bothering me do to it being a safety issue. The guy I bought the car from rebuilt just about everything and pointed out the problem with the brakes. He installed the 4 piston upgrade along with a new 73 master cylinder. When I push on the brakes, the pedal doesn't have any feel to it until approx. 1/2 of the way and then the brakes grab. If you push too hard the 4 piston calipers want to push your head through the windshield. I thought the problem was that I needed the upgraded ZX master (79-81) ,which I bought but haven't installed yet. Info I found on this thread. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?showtopic=38499 I'll look into the reaction disc and let you know what I find. Thanks for the valuable info spitz17 , blue and zcurves. Let us know what you find EvZ.
  16. ???????????! Guys, thanks for sharing your past experience with this seller. This helps most of us from future purchases from Too Intense. Hopefully you can resolve things with them.
  17. Looks like it sold for $12,500 with a Buy It Now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-77-280Z-ZZZAP-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3cb719f157QQitemZ260769968471QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks

Welcome to the forum. Please post some pics when you get a chance and more info regarding the condition of the Z.
  19. Hello, If you go to http://www.zhome.com/ and scroll down to http://zhome.com/History/colors.html. You will see that 112 color was only available in 1972 or 1973. If you're looking around then I would search those years. Good luck with your search.
  20. Thanks olzed and hello to you in New Zealand. The rims are 15inch and the tires are the same. Here are some pics .

Pic2 is from a 510 engine but its very similar to the z you and I have. The unit on the left is the brake master cylinder and the unit on the right is the clutch master cylinder.

Adding to the previous posts. Not sure how familiar you are with your Z's hydraulics but this may help. I had this same problem with the same symptoms and what I had was a hydraulic fluid leak. Your clutch is hydraulic and if you have a leak it will eventually fail. My previous experience was that I had a leaking or bad clutch slave cylinder. Your clutch hydraulic system is divided into 3 parts. First thing is to check for leaks around these areas. The Clutch master cylinder. (Pic 1) -(Pic 2 cylinder is on right.) The hydraulic fluid and hoses. The clutch slave cylinder. (Pic 3) Check the level of your Clutch master cylinder and see if you have any fluid in it or if its low. If its low refill it, pump your clutch and try to shift into reverse and 1st with the engine on. If you can shift then check for a leak around your clutch slave cylinder.. Pic 3. The slave cylinder is attached to your transmission. If its leaking, you will have to replace it. Keep us updated.
  23. This might be able to help you. I googled Arizona DMV and searched from there. http://www.azdeq.gov/environ/air/vei/index.html. Scroll down to Collectible Vehicles. Also here http://www.azdeq.gov/environ/air/vei/tested.html Under Exempted Vehicles "Vehicles designated as "collectible" (requires collectible vehicle insurance, reported to Arizona Motor Vehicle Division by insurer)". 24. Thanks Gary and Steve for the clarification. OEMZ do you have a Vin Number you can post?
  25. I noticed on this car that the gas lid on the car is a locking one and the rear hatch glass has vertical defrost lines on it. Wasn't that only available in 1970 and 1971 Z's? I could be wrong. I had a white 1972 with the red interior and it had no locking gas lid and the hatch glass defrost lines were horizontal.
