  1. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH JAMES IT WAS THE TPS! my car runs amazing again. you have just prevented auto zone from making hundreds of dollars off of me. one day i hope to be half as smart as you. please accept my friend request.
  2. no. i did not pressure wash the motor.
  3. i dont think it has anything to do with water left within it. i really think it has to have something to do with the fire,
  4. sorry for not including. it is a 1980 280zx anniversary edition, fuel injected
  5. the car ran fine yesterday with no problems untill i got the geat idea to clean the motor for apperence purposes. to make a long story short the moter got sprayed down with water and degreeser. -(i didnt cover up anything.) so now the motor runs perfect untill the temperature gage gets to about 120-140 degrees and when this happens, when the motor gets to 3000 rpm's it bogs down to 1900 rpm's and then goes back up to 3000 rpm's and repeats this proccess all while i am holding my foot steady on the accelerator. i have already checked: FUEL FILTER, FUEL LINES, CAP AND ROTOR, COIL, BATTERY, AIR FILTER AND HOSES, VACUM, I HAVE TAKEN OF THE DISTRIBUTER AND MADE SURE IT WAS DRY. PLEASE! any help would be verry nice right now. im so upset. this is my first car! it is a 1980 280zx anniversary edition, fuel injected. no mods. all original.
  6. thank you so much! i have learned my lesson. i will try this tomarro when i get home from school. i hope it fixes the problem. also i forgot to mention some details in my last question. when i push in on the accelerater to 2500rpm's it bogs down to 1900rpm's then quickly revs back up and repeats this proccess all while i am still maintaining the same position of the accelerater. sorry for not including those details before. jared
  7. thank you, that is exactly what i need to know. but i did not read this in time. my dad convinced me he could do it; and i let him. so to make a long story short, now when i get to 2500 rpm it looses power and drops to 1900 rpm.-(in all gears). i asked him if he covered any electronics he said no just sprayed everything with degreaser then hosed it down. so any help i would greatly appreciated. I am so upset that my new car isn't running properly. thanks Jared
  8. i apologize if this sounds like a foolish question but i am new to the z cars and pretty much cars in general. this is my first car so i don"t really no how to maintenance it. i would appreciate it if anyone could tell me the materials i need to use to clean under the hood and where i need to start. thanks Jared
  9. it is the boot thank you
  10. i have recently invested in a 1980 280zx 10th anniversary edition. everything is perfect about the car except that it pops back in neutral if i put it in first and do not hold it. also the water light keeps lighting up and i checked the radiator and it is fine. so any help or suggestions on how to fix these problems will be appreciated. Thanks Jared
  11. so it would hurt a 1980 engine if i was to put a turbo on it? i found out today that the 79 zx has an 83 motor in it but it is an automatic so i dont know if the turbo would benefit it.. also i have heard mixed rumors of the amount of 10th anniversary cars left in existance. can anyone here clarify a number for me.
  12. I just bought what i think was a deal, a 1980 10th anniversary car for $3000 and a 79 280zx for $900-both are running. I don't know very much about these cars. they are both in good condition, neither one of them have any rust. the AE car is running okay, i think its just out of time really bad. the AE is manual 5 speed and the 79 is automatic. I was wondering do they make turbos for these models? would i want to do that? Also i was wondering why the zx is looked at so differently than the z. I will post pictures soon. thankyou. Jared
