  1. Modifying an L motor is the way to go, a turbo is a welcome addition, a V8 fusion is only welcome in the cup holder. The cup holder is also a welcome addition.
  2. Now that you mention it, some mods make the 280's look MORE like a Z, getting rid of the battering rams for instance.
  3. It was a late 80" or early 90's Z28, not a real one like in your attachment.......... CHEB-ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...WHOPEEE
  4. Hey man, my motors dirty as hell and missing half of the heat shield.........................and....I.....DO....NOT.......EVER.......DANCE...........................(in public)
  5. In all fairness, it was on a Z28 big block RatRod, and I know all about the Vette motors. And I'm not smokin, I'm DRINKING!
  6. I know its wrong, but having seen one with this on the air cleaner once I feel obligated to share.............CHEB-Zee.
  7. Look again, he is running round top SU's already, just check the damper lube and let er eat. I would concentrate on the aformentioned stuff and go after the carb tuning after you get the car running (if possible). It's always easier to chase down problems one at a time, if you mess with too many things at once you end up chasing your tail.
  8. When mine broke, I put the pasenger side of the car on a curb, crawled under and pushed the release with my finger. You get a clear shot at it from the pasenger side, no problem. I should add however, I have a 32" reach. As a fix, I bought a cable end with a set screw from a local bike shop, trimed the cable jacket back an inch and hooked everything back up. Worked like a champ, cost less than a buck.
  9. Not in an AZ car, might get a sunburn where the sun don't shine, or start an unwanted love affair with a rattler.
  10. Repainting or chroming OEM alternator brackets don't really bother me, nor does the addition of billet door lock poppers, strut braces, valve caps or any other bobbles and doo-dads, as long as you do it tastefully. Whenever I read a thread like this I always remember "The Klingon", the guy that welded a hood to the roof of his car, YIKES. Some ideas look good in the minds eye but make the other two sore if you get my drift. In my recent fight to rid my car once and for all of it's vapor lock issues (successfully) I added a 3" cowl induction hood. I wouldn't go so far as to say it looks bad, but I liked the stock hood look much better. I can justify the mod by saying, "The hood was damaged anyway and the intent of the modification, to ventilate the engine compartment, was a success." Did it improve the looks of the car? Not to me....Did it improve the performance? Defiantly.
  11. That will be $10,000, cus we all know how much wonderfulness you're car contains, would you like to make a seperate list for the things that illustrate the Zness, that will be extra. BTW who is Mr. Deeds?
  12. Total nonsense, what are you trying to say? Do yoy really talk like this and wink at people after every third word?
  13. Thats a bigger problem than you think if its a 2 stage paint job (clear over basecoat). Be VERY careful when you pick the car up, check for blend lines and look at it carefuly (I call it EYE F@#FING) to make sure he reclears the entire car, jambs and all (with the glass out) all the way to the weatherstripping ribs. What a bummer.
  14. Try hitting this guy up with the question mclapp1@att.net He calls himself plastic man, fabs headlight covers, he might be able to make the inserts in clear and polish them and you. Then you could print up the map or something to place under them.
  15. Toggles are add on's, NICE CAR! P.S. Always give motor bay pics.
  16. Looks like you have a real good starting point to work with. I would go over the suspension, brakes and hoses first, lubrication second, time and tune and drive. Nice car Herman.
  17. I'm not so sure about that, I had a 350 and the cars of that era, or this era if you will are too cookie cutter. There were very few cars to compare the S30 to in it's day like the 911 for instance.
  18. Another thing to look at is some of the cheap battery terminals, specifically the non molded to the cable variety, are made of an alloy that reacts to pure lead and forms a hard black crusty oxidation at the interface of the clamp and lug, but not so much on the outside surfaces that are exposed. Clean the lugs and clamps and use the red battery terminal protector spray, this will also work if its a leaking problem, just follow the directions on the can...............Rookie................
  19. If you are looking for coilovers, check out Cosmo racings site. If you aren't looking to slam the car they are good quality, good price, and it afords you a great deal of flexability on the install.
