  1. The temps were in the 20's here this morning, so when I got to the shop (and warmed my hands up) looked into this again. There is no way to get to the flapper that I can see without at least removing the console and loosening the dash. so I stuck foam balls in the vent ducts and backer rods in the center vent defuser. I hope this works.
  2. One of my first cars was a Chevy Duce 2 door wagon, small block with a 3 speed. I loved that car, and this one reminded me of it. I'm sure the power isn't there though.
  3. Thanks for the pics, It was 29 degrees and snowing when I left the house this morning. No accumulation and thankfuly no reason for the state to dump crap all over the roads. The 240 does love the cold air though, once it gets up to temp.
  4. There are quite a few around that have the "shark gill" modification, THREEZ has that done. I think it's to mimmic the Ferrari look.
  5. I recently replaced mine, this is correct. The O-ring is petrolium resistant, so use a heavy petro based grease to hold the Oring in place and prevent tearing it if the sender moves durring lock ring installation.
  6. Ben, I think you should start a new thread regarding the spring, it may have something to do with the temp sensor. Obviously I'm talking out of my A$$ on this, I know almost nothing about the 280 EFI, but there are a bunch of members that know it inside and out.
  7. Not trying to solve your problem, the toggle switch won't hurt performance, but be dilligent turning it off.
  8. I would look at the carb insulator blocks and gaskets first, you draw antifreeze down the throat of the car if one of those 6 parts is bad. Head gaskets don't rot, so forget about that. And I doubt that the block or the head cracked.
  9. Pull the hoses off of the overflow nipples on the bowls and start the car to see if your floats are sealing properly. Gas will run over the top of the overflow if they aren't. And don't use the choke.
  10. Post a pic of the intake and carbs showing the manifolds and hose plumbing.
  11. The real problem is that the bar keeps getting lowered so even the dumbest kid can stumble over it and get his trophy along side the brightest. The brightest, no longer being challenged to excel, become lazy and stupid and choose to cruise through life, exerting a minimal effort to achieve a minimal goal. Rightly so, if you are smart enough to make a good living, you are likewise smart enough to see how big brother takes bigger and bigger chunks of the pie you struggle to grow. So you find that happy place where you make what you need to live the way you wish, and pay the lowest possible tribute to the Pharos and lords. Then you hope against hope that those morons don’t collapse the house of cards too soon. Always remember that 49% of people are of below average intelligence, and it shows in the way they attempt to express themselves using the written word.
  12. Back here in the east, practally the only Datsun's you see are Z's, the rest rusted to the ground and blew away with the wind. I did see a really cool B210 at the Carliles meet last year, but I couldn't get the owner to sell it to me.
  13. Cool, when I finally find a good three wire tach to replace my original, I will have to look into that bulb.
  14. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-Datsun-510-wagon-Amazing-condition-5-speed-Panasport-wheels-Restored-/150715845601?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item23175d4be1 One of you San Fran guys seen this on the streets? If I hit the Mega Millions tonight, it's mine!
  15. It's been relisted, but he never got back to me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250954789159
  16. Does it come on with the door switch or the light switch? I have one under the dash in my 73, called the ROOM L. on the wiring diagram, 2 wires, red/ blue and black, comes on with the door switches. I have not found where it mounts.
  17. Oil filter check valve? Doesnt that prevent the oil from draining back to the pan through the supply journals in these motors? oil flow.doc
  18. I had a 280 myself, sold it back in the 80's, I was just wondering why he prefers the 280 over the 60 or 40, or why he is limiting his search to the 280 only. Considering the comparable simplicity of the earlier cars.
  19. Why a 280 over a 240 or 60? I read almost every S30 post on this site, and it seems to me that the 280's EFI system is the source of alot more problems than the early carburated cars suffer from. Just wondering why you're thinking of a later car.
  20. I just finished doing a valve adjustment, they were getting a bit noisy and all the talk lately about wiped cams and busted spray bars had me nervous as a whore in church. The valves were out a few thousands each, corrected that. The spray bar was leaking at the towers a bit so I refit the covers and put them back together using a very light film of LocTite gasket sealent. The spray bar is a real POS, it has loose braise joints and the tower castings are warped so I called Larry Hassler to find out about the billet bar, no answer, left a message. (Thanks John) I am thinking of doing a cam swap, but the car runs so damn good that I cant see taking it apart right now. Besides the fact that MSA is not selling the rockers rite now. I'll share the info when he returnes my call.
  21. Anyone know where to source the billet spray bar?
  22. Damn, that thing is just plain sexy. I can't park my girl anywhere near yours for fear of giving her a complex.
  23. Looks like the ppg Cortez Yellow I put on my 68 Super Bee, accents against the black trim the same way.
  24. Could be a bent clutch fork draging in thr T/O bearing
