It's 100+ deg again today, the car is running really bad at higher RPM. I didn't want to thread jack the octain thread, so here we go. I just ordered a Holley blue pump with a regulator to replace the pogo pump. This is about the last thing I haven't tried among the common remidies like insulation and heat shields. I thought about cutting the hood, but I have never seen a hood scoop that looks as good as the solid 240 unvented hood. My hood has a dent, but my body man says his father's a TV repairman and he has the ultimate set of tools and he can fix it. (thats for the old guys out there) So I figure that if I must cut the hood, now is the time as paint is coming soon. Any of you guys done a hood scoop (other than the Nissan part, not too keen on them) that looks like something? If so pics please. I was thinking that a Mustang cobra scoop might be a candidate, but it looks like alot of fitting work. That would look sort of like the old big block Vette hood, sort of. (no Klingon pics please) So, back to the holly pump, I'm a little afraid that the pump might blow by the SU floats and spill raw fuel in the engine compartment. Has anyone put a catch can on your SU bowl vents? If so what did you buy or make and where did you install it?

My thoughts exactly, if you went with the BF goodrich, check them for roundness. The shimmy is a ballance problem most likely, I had mine match ballanced a few months back and it eliminated the problem. Also, did you go bigger with the new tires?

Even at WOT, as the RPM climbs so shall the manifold vac and the advance comes back into play, Wade is correct that it SHOULD make some positive difference. I would assume the mechanical section is working since the car runs as he reports.

Man, the damn vaporlock is a PITA. I've been trying everything to fix my problem with this. I was heading up the highway yesterday and couldn't go past 60mph untill I popped the hood latch, then the problem stopped. I think the chin spoiler made it worse. Since the summer blend switch the economy went down and I have to run 93 oct.

Well, the bottom line is that $28K will buy you a hell of alot of car in todays economy, A HELL OF A LOT!! 700 original miles or not, that aint a hell of alot of car, I guess the seller doesn't want to clean the "pitina" off of the peddals. I've been helping a friend do a ground up build on a 50 lead sled, and finishing up his 55 Belair in exchange for a repaint of my Z car. This guy knows the market and you can buy full blown custom street rods for around that number. You would have to be a stone cold Z nut to pay that kind of cash for that car.

Theres a "heel hole" under the gas peddal and the peddals themselves aren't as crisp as a 700 miler should have, Dosen't look like there are shoe scuffs on the tranny tunnel though. The seat pleats also look a bit flat, like it's seen some butt time. I don't think it got 100,700, but I dont think 700 either. Mine had less than 40K when I got her and my pedal rubber was in better shape. I think the guy got beat by the estate salesman, but it's hard to be sure in pic's.

By that logic, I never existed, I can't ever remember even having a camera on my person when being flashed by a woman. Much less wasting the experience looking for a camera. I’ve been to bike week events in Daytona, Sturgis, Myrtle Beach, Laconia and many others. I bet I've seen 10 thousand girls show their T!TS, and never snapped one picture. Hell, I had a young lady strip naked and we road the bike thru the Buffalo Chip campground one night (I was bare a$$ed too, Alcohol fueled madness) and I’m glad that I don’t have any pics of that, but there are plenty out there. This is what happens when you go half way on a body kit. Had they stopped looking at the money and focused on the car you would have a great looking ride. Although I am not a fan of the bulky spoiler and fender treatments, if they would have just gone the extra mile to remove the back battering ram and finished the vallance, the whole tone of the thread would be different. I hope the right person got the car and gets the job finished. When we discuss a 35 year old hi mod car, milage be damed, It will eat at your mind and money no matter what the odometer says. Where has the Klingon gotten off to?

I had a 65 Mustang for a few years, spent a bunch of cash and time on that thing. The Z is now my daily driver and has been for a while, and I can vouch for this article. Paint coming in 2 weeks or so, can't wait.

Economy update, I've been running up to Fulton, PA a few times a week, about 80 miles round trip. So I have been tracking fuel my consumption closely on these trips and have found some intresting results. If I keep my speeds around the posted limits, I get 22 or 23 MPG on the summer blend quite consistantly. If I drive the car the way it likes to be driven 90 to 100 MPH highway and 50 to 70 MPH byway, the economy is horrible 10 to 12 MPG. Thats the worst milage of any car I ever owned short of an old Econoline van with a 351 cleveland motor that got 4 MPG no matter how I drove it. Long story short, the velocity stacks make a difference in fuel milage and high speed economy and performance.

If I may, I would say nothing about the smog situation in the writen advertisements, thats looking for trouble from over zealous bureaucrats and law enforcement types. Just play stupid and mention it to prospective buyers in passing. My two cents.

Andrew, Did you replace the sprung washers when you installed the new carbs? I only ask because I had a heck of a time torquing those rusty originals on the common studs. After the second one didn't seem to torque smoothly I stopped and ordered new hardware and everything went together smoothly. I also run the 6 into 1 header with a single glass pack supressor,(can't bring myself to call it a muffler) sounds wonderful but it is loud. Check your flange thickness and shim the washers if necessary as stated above by Blue, if the common washers kink it will affect torque values and could cause poor sealing, and God forbid, you could snap a stud. FWIW. Also the propane torch trick is safe and effective, and you aren't blowing oils and flamable liquid on the headers. Also FWIW.

This is actually an auction for TWO 1970 Z's, check out the last pic in the album. It says if you use the BIN option at $14,500 you get both, I think that's a little steep for a site unseen purchase, could be worth a look if you are local.

I only have the lap belts, the PO swapped out the originals for whats in there now.
