yeh, my friend is into bmw's so I'm sure he was thinking in those terms, just didn't catch on at the time. Good stuff guys, much appreciated. Going to search "clunk" now and then maybe off to New Orleans....

Has anyone ever heard of this? A friend of mine mentioned this to me in reference to a "clunking" sound in the rear end of my 71 240. As best I can decipher he is talking about something in the differential. Could it be drive shaft related? Thanks for any help.
  3. TBone028 I'm replacing my master cylinder and am having trouble getting the push rod disconnected from the pedal. Any suggestions? Pictures maybe of how to release it?
  4. again, to everyone I've offended, I apologize. I like this site and hope to be a productive contributor in the future.
  5. I'm new to all of this, not just this site but forums in general. I apologize for upsetting so many of you and will keep learning as I go. I appreciate all the help some of you have given me, hope my lack of knowledge of how these forums work won't keep any of you from responding in the future. This is a great site and will do my best to stay in good graces from here on out.
  6. Dk240z: I tried to send you a private message but can't figure out how to check and see if you got it or if it went through. I'm interested in the brackets and if you want to respond here or through the private message I'd be interested to know what you're asking for them. Thanks for letting me know you have them.
  7. Escanlon: well, I had already responded to him so it felt like I was the one being put on the defensive. My sincere apologies, not trying to break any rules, the forum has been very helpful and don't want to jeopardize it.
  8. 5thhorseman: got a couple of other leads that may have front and back but I'll check back in if those don't pan out. Thanks for letting me know
  9. Escanlon: there is such a thing as private messaging, so unless you have some way of knowing whether or not I've responded to him you might want to at least keep to yourself
  10. Johnny'O-I'll check and see if they'll fit, how much do you want for them if I can use them? You can send me a private message if you prefer that.
  11. haven't checked out Motorsports auto, but will do so now that I know about them. Thanks for the help.
  12. I'm looking for front and rear bumper mounts for a 1971 240z, not having much luck on the websites. Anyone out there have any or know where I can find them?

I downloaded the '72 FSM, the '71 wasn't available, but I know I can get started with the '72 version. Probably very similar. I was able to bleed the clutch with some help, but still need to do it more thoroughly. Two man job and it is just me more often than not. I'm going to be remodeling as I go and looking for seats, dash, etc. I know black dragon auto is a good resource, and I've found a couple of other sites too. Any that you know of you could recommend? Local junkyards on are on the weekend list. Thanks again for the help.

Rick Q: can't shift into any gear. Reverse grinds when I try, the others just won't go at all. This is recent, though it was kind of rough before. I just bought the car and trying to figure out where things are. My plan was to bleed the master and go from there. Is the link you sent Xenons? I didn't see an actual link on your post. I sure appreciate your help.

I'm having some of the same clutch issues on my 71 Z, but I'm such a novice that I can't even find the master and slave cyl. Are they behind the firewall or can they be accessed from underneath? If anyone has a diagram that helps out in these areas it would be great. Thanks for any help.
