Aftermarket Intake System
I check with K&N and they do not make any intake kits for a 280 ZX. So does any body know who does? There's obviously gotta be something more better than that Auqa colored filter box...right?

what tire sizes will fit my z???
Why does the engine rev faster now than with the stock stock flywheel then..? If the engine can rev faster not turning that heavy stock flywheel, doesn't that translate to quicker pick up in speed? There's more to it than just "weight" alone..hell mybe the car will go faster if I lose 50 lbs..? really. why sell aluminum flywheels and make all this "Noise" that it makes the car faster then? I got mine from "Bob Sharp Racing" back in 87. I think it's 12 lbs or 14 lbs..it's been too long to remember. But I was told the stock flywheels weight about 30-40 lbs. I felt the car Reved faster after the Flywheel was installed. I don't know that it doesn't make any more Horse Power. But I do know with the seat of my pants, that something was changed and those wheels in back are turning harder than before. so it's not an imagination going on.

Anniv edition
Mine is all one person owned..Bought it new inside the showroom floor. Roger Miller Datsun in Riverside, CA. July 1980. My plaque number is 2789 of 3000. A sad note, It did sit in my garage not running for 15 years. Just last year, October 2010, I got her running again. I have 98,000 miles on mine. Still have the factory installed engine. Tranny has been replaced because I hit a football sized rock at night on a mountain road and it broke off the Slave cylinder off the tranny and chunked it out so bad that I had nothing to mount another slave cylinder to. I have a little bit of rust around the windshield area. that has to be addressed soon.

Spark Plugs - PulseStar type?
There are these Spark Plugs that are called Pulse Star Spark Plugs and the have an internal coil inside the ceramic insilator that boosts the spark "significantly"..Has any one tried these on their Z? they run $12 bucks each. Another Idea too, is it worth running a spark plug 1 number cooler than stock? Stock heat range is 6 in NGK. by going to a 7 is cooler than a 6. Is there any thing gained in this? Also I don't suppose their a way to have a high performance Cam put in and have smog test problems with it passing the test..? I see we can get headers now that are approved now. I'm going to look into having a Magnaflow Exhaust system put in (Cat back) to see if I can get more HP than the "Anza" exhaust I have now..I already have the 12lb. Flywheel put in and the stock heavy one removed. The car Revs much faster. Always looking for a little extra power to apply to it..

Any Thoughts on New Tires?

Any Thoughts on New Tires?
Howdy to all, I am planning on putting on "CenterLine Rims-Fuel Model" in 15" by 8" wide. stock bolt circle. Then I am going to run Pirelli P6000 tires in 225/60-15 front....and 235/60-15 rears. Right now I have the stock rims 14x7 with BFGoodrich TA/Radials mounted in this configuration: Fronts = 225/60-14 and Rears = 235/60-14 and it has a nice stance to it with those tires on it. So I'm basically just going up in size 1" taller and 1" wider in rims. It's the tire profile that is going to be the deal maker or breaker in fit. 50 series tires should be no problem if we don't go over 9.5" wide and 26" tall. Of course there's more leeway on the rears since they don't turn. My current 225's in 14" don't rub at all..

what tire sizes will fit my z???
SuperJ243, Howdy!! we have the same exact car..Mine is plaque number #2789 out of 3000. Tires--> I have on the stock rims, BFGoodrich TA/Radials in 2 sizes. Rear tires are 235/60-14. Fronts are 225/60-14. I wasn't sure if 235's would work on the fronts. so I went conservative and downsized the fronts. Now very interesting, I'm getting ready to put CenterLine Rims on mine with 15" rims and 8" wide. I'm going to run Pirelli's P6000's. My stock rims look very "ugly" now..Need some new rims to put the "GTP" look into the car. If you stay stock? you can run what I have now..and you might want to have the tire guy put a 235 of front and see if it clears turning left or right..Then you can run 235's on all 4's. Just a note, Put a custom light weight Flywheel on your engine. The power increase is amazing!! check into it.

Rims
Hey guys, I have an opportunity to buy some 15" rims by 8" wide. these are Center Line Fuel Model. Will these fit with no problem on a 80 ZX? Bolt pattern is 4x4.5 ( stock ). I would be running Perelli P6000 tires 235/60-15. I have BFGoodrich 235/60-14 now on the stock rims. They fit fine but I don't think I can go any wider. Front tires are 225/60-14...I'm not sure if 235's will fit up front without rubbing..>? But I'm trying to get that "GTP" look to the car. let me know what you think?

82 280ZX non turbo Ignition Switch Problem Need Help!
I just recently had a locksmith replace the ignition tumblers portion because the "kep stop" broke and was allowing the key to go "too far" inside the tumblers and thus the key will not line up properly. The crapy thing about it, is that I have to have 2 keys now- 1 for the ignition and 1 ( older key) for the door. $180 smackers.
