I have one car left. I very straight and rust free 10/70 series one. Right now it's pretty much a shell, but hopefully that's about to change.

  1. I have never seen anything like these. Does anyone know anything about them. I stumbled into some guy in Russia FB page and I guess he has them. I’ve never seen anything like these before.
  2. Thank you very much for that Johnathan, that is some great information. That is pretty much the same set up as I want. Not to hard, not to soft. What about wheels. What size wheels did you go with? Any fitment issues or anything? I want to start to do some research on some zero offset wheels.
  3. California Datsun is another company that sells coilover kits. The only problem is when you go to the site, it does not give a lot of information on the rates or anything.
  4. Yep, I completely agree. I have been thinking the same thing. Even though I love the look of some JDM cars, I’d probably be castraded by the Z community for cutting up a perfectly good seriers one Z. Lol. So I’m just going lowering springs and KYB. I can always adjust from there.
  5. You hit the nail on the head! This car that I have could be one of those Barrett Jackson cars because it’s practically rust free and super straight. Right now it’s just a shell, but I have pretty much all the parts to put it back together. Someone could easily restore the car back to whatever style they wanted to. It just takes an abundance of money and know how. I don’t possess either! Lol. I’ve thought about selling it and getting a 72 or 73 and modding that out many times. I am honestly torn on what to do.
  6. Ya, it’s a 10/70 build date and I’d hate to do anything crazy with it. My problem is I really like the look of some of the JDM style cars and not really into the whole original look. If I had a later model I’d have no problem making it into a JDM style car, but a series one...even I’d say that’s blasphemy! Lol.
  7. I guess my other question would be, are the konis and this set up user friendly or are they just made for track use? Does anyone out there run this type of setup on their daily driver or weekend driver? I like a firm ride but I don’t want to get beat up every time I drive it. Any suggestions on how to make this setup more user friendly like a different strut or? Or maybe I should just stick with the springs and struts and keep it simple.
  8. Thank you Zed. This is all that is posted.
  9. Let me start by saying thank you to everyone who helped me on my last post. All the replies are very helpful for sure. So I am rebuilding the front of my 10/70 and I have been doing some research and looking for the best deals on struts. I know that I said I do not plan on getting to crazy with the suspension, but that is always subject to change. So I came across a great deal and if these fit, I guess I should jump on it. I have a guy that is selling some parts to make my car into a coil over car. To me its such a great deal that it would be almost impossible to turn down. By everything that I have read so far, I think they will fit, but I need to check with the experts first, the Datsun Community. So here is what he's got. My only question is, will they fit on a 10/70 Z? Once again, thank y'all for all your help.
  10. http://www.koni-na.com/getattachment/NorthAmerica/News/News-Releases/KONI-Sport-Performance-Dampers-for-Classic-’70-83/37102_KONI_Datsun_Z_Motorsport_PressRelease.pdf.aspx/?lang=en-US Wow! Thank you Zed for that information. This could be a game changer. I just got off the phone with Motorsport Auto and the rep said that yes, they have partnered with Koni and are very soon coming out with NEW Koni struts made for the Datsun Z cars. Woo Wooo. He said they are putting all the finishing touches on the marketing campaign and finishing up testing and then they will be ready to go. I asked him if he had a date or even a ballpark date they would be available but he declined and just said, very soon.
  11. Zed one thing that I remember reading was how KYB struts were made as factory replacements and those were not ideal for a lowered Z and you mentioned the same about the Koni. That just leads me to ask the question, are there any struts specifically designed to fit on a lowered Z? If not, you are right. I should go with the KYB and save money for the drive train.
  12. Thank you Siteunseen, that Atlantic z post is straight money for the conversion. Thank you also for the tip with the t/c rod nuts. Ill have to add that to my parts list also. That's a nice orange 72. Maybe one day mine will look that good.
  13. That’s some very appreciated information Zed. Thank you for that. That’s another question that I am torn over is, since I’m not going to do any serious track or scca anything, do I really need the Konis or can I just go with KYB.
  14. Expensive! The worst part is, last night I was checking around and I just missed a sale. Someone on the Datsun Classified post on FB sold a pair of used Koni front struts for $150! Ugh. The story of my life, day late and a dollar short.
