Passionate, no expert and not claiming to be.. Simply knew i'd always wanted one and had searched high and low for a good Kenmeri or a old hako rep! Thanks for the heads up, i'll jump on there now and have a look.. planning to take my time sourcing the right parts... On my to-do list is to head down to Otomoto and check out their GTR grille,spoiler and flares... Cheers anyway for the lead..

I’ll get some pics soon of the low side of the doors and around the rear windows. Suprisingly those areas aren’t so bad.. they are the “usual” areas but aren’t that bad.. once it’s fully stripped down, then it’s true identity will be revealed.. I appreciate the support and interest; I’ll endeavour to keep you all updated on its progress.. I am going to start looking for either a set of triple Mikuni's or a set of triple Webbers , other bits I may need help sourcing are the GTR replica bits.. I realise this is a long shot, but do you happen to still have the 4 speed?

So it arrived today and had a proper chance to look over it with a mechanic mate. The original engine is running quite rough (was fine in QLD), needs brakes and carbies need a rebuild. This has sped up my decision to take it off the road and restore it without driving it around as is. Plans for the build are: *Rebuild L24 from ground up with Webber carburettors and a lumpy cam. *Convert from auto to manual (if anyone can help me source the bits I need for this, can you please pm me) *Respray in white *240 K Manual centre console *GTR guards *GTR spoiler *GTR grill *GTR badges *GTR trim highlights (silver instead of woodgrain) *GTR steering wheel *New carpets *restored dash pad (this one’s cracked) *Wide Wantanabe with low offset (keep hubbies for shows etc) I’ve taken some quick close ups from my phone so excuse the quality.. I will get some better pictures once I get a chance.. it only arrived this afternoon and as you can see it’s NOT a museum car and is in need of restoration. As you can see no rust in the floors which is great Interior is perfect.. Some may think I paid too much or too little but at least it’s in genuine original condition. Overall I’m reasonably happy and doubt I’d have found cleaner anytime soon.. I know my plans will disappoint many people but at the end of the day, it’s another classic on the road that’s been saved from the scrap heap and will get nothing but the best parts and service. It’s my car, I have always wanted an old GTR and I’m sticking with an original style build. I won’t be putting an RB26 or anything like that (although that’d be awesome) it’s not what I want or how I envisioned it to be (I’m an old skool kinda guy!)..

Watch who you call a moron buddy! What I do with my car is my business..a shell would be a great idea if they weren't all riddled with rust and missing all the parts required to build a car of the calibre I want without going broke from buying parts at over inflated prices. Either way you should be happy it's gone to a genuine older Datsun enthusiast and not some kid who is going to thrash it for his first car or ruin it with silly short cut modifications. Either way, no need to be a ****head and offend people you don't know especially when they are genuinely passionate about the car they have just bought. I find it ammusing and ironic that the same reasons I didn't look for a shell are the same you didn't want one.. not to mention you really will consider just about anything other than a 240K... unlike you, I have only wanted this or a Hakosuka.. Anyway.. That's not the point of this thread.. I just got annoyed by your comments and couldn't refrain myself..

Hi Mastadd240K, I appreciate the offer but I had been trying to find a good clean original 240K and luckily I’ve found it. I will be keeping it as it’s one of my dream cars, just undecided on what direction I’m going to take with this car (GTR MOCK or restoration), I won't be selling anytime soon but if I do, I’ll be sure to keep you in mind. I wouldn’t be interested in a trade because I know that I’ve got one of the best examples there is and my OCD won’t allow me to have anything else but the best. I’ll keep you all updated when it arrives and of any progress. Cheers

Hi Guys, Thanks for all the positive comments. I will take a heap of photo's when it arrives from QLD (it just got picked up). It's currently auto, but i'd love to convert it to a manual. As for the GTR clone, the car is very clean and it'd be a shame to see it go down that path but at the same time, it's one of my dream cars so i'm kinda divided on what to do. I'm not going to be rushing into anything and as I said, I want to enjoy it a little before I take it off the road for a full resto, so I still have plenty of time to make a decision. Cheers

Hi Guys, I have FOUR (yes as in 4) Datsun L24 Skyline (240K) engines and a complete auto gear box that need new homes. The guy that I bought my car off threw them in as part of the deal but unfortunately the cost of freight (to Sydney), is too expensive. I am willing to give these away for free and I’m chasing a Manual G/BOX with peddle set as my car is currently Auto and I’d love to convert it to manual SO if you are willing to help out then I’d appreciate the swap otherwise whoever wants them can take them. I want these to go to an enthusiast who’ll use them and not someone who will simply onsell them (I COULD HAVE DONE THAT). I am a firm believer that car communities are exactly that = help each other out. They’re located in QLD about 10 mins from the GC airport. Through a good friend of mine, I found out about a GENUINE one owner 1973 Datsun 240K GL 2 door coupe in white with only 51,000k’s on the clock and the history to prove it! This will be the perfect basis for a GT-R-KPGC110 replica, most commonly referred to as "Ken & Mary". Until the car arrives from QLD, this is the only picture I have I searched high and low for the right car; I have been all over the country trying to find the “right one”. I almost gave up hope until I found this car. I am a very meticulous person and although it won’t be a fast build, I can assure you that it will definitely be a quality one! The car has never had an accident and never had any repairs done which is what drew me in. It’s not museum quality but it is a well maintained 240k with a genuine history and I believe that it is the perfect starting point for a GTR rebuild. The owner, who is now 91, bought the car brand new in 1973 from Nissan and has done a fantastic job keeping it in such good condition. He was sincerely distraught when he was signing over the papers but I assured him that I’d give it a good home. Here’s a picture that I took while I was in QLD finalising payment and paper work. The car will be picked up tomorrow by the logistics company and should be here on Friday. The plan is to enjoy it a little before I take it off the road for a full restoration.
