  1. So what is a synopsis of your technique?
  2. I'm used to being hurt because I work on my tools in construction but never for this long. It gets tiresome after a while. thanks, Guys
  3. Its easy to over sand. Not exactly like wood but I found it stained out ok
  4. That would be cool but I was thinking several tire calculator links could be posted in the same article all in one place Options, ya know...
  5. Also some copper to back the hole Helps close them up too. Mind that the copper gets hot very quickly!! Do you not have a metal shop that can brake a section like that for you? I would consider replacing that or at least the worst sections. By the time its clean there wont be much metal left. Several years ago I would have chased those holes. I have come around to the idea that it's overall just easier to get rid of that rotten metal and the chassis is stiffer for it

    Thanks Jeff!
  7. JB weld probably won't work in this situation. It doesn't like to be flexed. Seals holes, drill it, mill it. Can even pull on it, but flexing, not so much
  8. No more Tri-metal??? Really?
  9. That is a most excellent shift knob!!!
  10. Ahhh, much better! A nice selection of cars there
  11. 624 days since a post!!! Pffttt! Depressing... Any way the car is still out of the shop and covered up and the Goon is occupying premium space but I did tinker a little today. I pulled together about 20#'s of metal to go to the platers. It's an experiment. I did very little prep work other than degreasing. We'll see what I get back. I also worked on one of the Cv axle halfshafts for the CLSD rear end. It's been sitting on my bench for almost 2 years. I found these numbers on the hub. Might be useful or cross-referenceable

  14. Congrats!! All the images seem to have downloaded small. I can't enlarge them...
  15. If a 4 speed case will work. I have several of those I believe
  16. The tire calculators should be added on the tech page...
  17. WooHoo!!! Go man, go! I've always felt bad for that car sitting over there all neglected...
  18. There are specialty gauge shops that can probably repair it.
  19. If the outside is loose and the inside pick up doesn't move then you may be pulling air instead of fuel
  20. Both sides have been patched already. I would redo all of that. I suspect there is more concealed rust under those goober welded patches Fortunately all of that metal is now available. Depending on how deep it goes. Very common to see mesh or crumpled up newspaper behind repairs like this. The bondo needs something to help it fill the hole until it gets hard. PO's Got to love em...
  21. He was growing a car guy!! A little danger is a necessary ingredient! 😉
  22. I dont find it uncommon to see oversized main bearings. Does seem interesting they're that hard to source
