280Z Requires Starting Fluid for Cold Starts
Do you have a volt meter? If so: 1. Check the battery voltage 2. Check the battery voltage when cranking 3. If it's low when cranking add a second battery with jumper cables or a jump box would be even better. Let's rule out low voltage possibilities to start with If you do not have one, consider going to Harbor Freight and getting a cheap one. It will make diagnosis much easier

SU carb questions
Sell the 4 barrel setup and use that money to finish the SU's. They are a better setup over all, unless you are very good at tuning 4 barrel carbs

SU carb questions
The 4 barrel dooesn't feed fuel as evenly. You will have to buy it and the manifold, which won't be cheaper than just making your SU's work and the 4 barrel will be harder to adjust the mixture versus the very simple SU's

Sidedraft Central
Got this email today Yahoo has announced today it's abandoning supporting all Group websites and as a result it is no longer useful to me. The content has been corrupted for quite awhile and as a result trying to save photos is now no longer possible. I'll be moving to another vendor which I'll announce here soon. They are only going to continue to support communicating by email only. -Keith Franck

Replacing S30 Rear Wheel Bearings
I thought about adding a zerk but didn't do it this time. If I ever have to go back in there, I will probably add one then

Spark plug reading
Did you check oil level after the first early start up? If not then I wouldn't be confidant your oil consumption is as high as you think. A quart every 150 miles is a little like fogging for mosquitos! Quite noticeable Get the oil full and on the stick where it's easy to confirm, reset the odometer and put a few more miles on it.

"The Orange"
Looks like an excellent foundation. Floor boards don't appear to have any jacking damage and the splash pan looks to be in nice shape

Stock Valve Cover Finish
Thanks for that. Good to see you around

Stock Valve Cover Finish
Zup summed that up for me succinctly! Most valve covers will need some restoration. I wouldn't want to bolt a less than pristine valve cover onto one of Motormans cars or Zups or any number of other cars on this site. So how do judges expect that to happen? Maybe some one could tag Fred Buoni to weigh in on this? I would be surprised if the valve covers came out of the mold exactly as they appear NOS

Stock Valve Cover Finish
So how can they ding you for a bead blasted finish? If the beads are fine enough, it would look very similar to that!

Porsche 914's
The other thing is, I bet they go cheap

I can usually get pages translated. It's the searching on the German Ebay that is stumping me

I know but none of it's in English! I need to get some Boolean search lessons from the Maestro!

Porsche 914's
I thought the ACV's seemed really high unless there were some 6 cylinder cars there. I assume it was a shop or collector and they all ended up at Copart. I would think they would be fairly solid chassis because they are in Bakersfield. Might make good autocross cars. Only need the basics that way. I was bored and browsing the older cars, up to 88, on Copart. Sometimes there is something interesting, but it's almost never close to me. ?

Self-applying Brakes?
Yes, the disc can fall out. Normally you can shake the booster enough to get it back out of the booster. But if your booster is rusty inside from brake fluid, the diaphragm inside is split or will be shortly

Fuel Pump Issues... AGAIN
Somebody should reply with an answer on the diagnosis but direct wiring a fuel pump is not a good idea. At the very least, I would add an inertial kill switch in case of accident. Sitting inside a Molotov cocktail never sounds like fun!
