Need Advice
I am not sure I agree with the article either. Theyre basing it on quotes. Which may or may not be indicative of whats what. It may be that transactions have slowed due to price increases, not lack of interest and the cars that are hot are still somewhat undervalued. Iknow the 510s are when I browse for cars

Even on a rusty Z there tend to be good irreplaceable parts. Pick at it until there's nothing but "bones" ...

Duffy's 1/71 Series 1 240z build
Good to know. So your hardware is prepped and clean when you send it? I went to a shop an hour away from me in Asheville and the two guys I needed to speak too weren't there. I emailed one of them and he didn't respond. So I am operating on the premise that they are not interested in helping me. I would prefer to send money to people who are interested in helping me...Anyone in particular to talk too?

If it ain't broke, don't break it. Premium fuel might remove the deposits over time

Picking up a 1977 280z 6 Hours Away. Tips?
Is this picture right side up? If it is, then the filler neck is a real possibility. They can split and have little leaks. They can be a little expensive and rare. That almost looks like a weld bead inside your circled area. Someone may have worked on this already.

Calling all engineers
Oh, it's five o'clock somewhere!!!

Calling all engineers
She had a partner for the project and he didn't have any idea either and became a mute when presentation time came around. This is one of the few classes she has struggled in and she hasn't gotten along with the professor like some of her classes. I am sure some of that plays a part too. Graduation is Friday but her last exam is Friday morning so in reality, you walk but don't even know if you've graduated until days later.

Ahhhh, the swiss cheese car! Bless you for taking this on! I went back and looked at the first pages of pictures. The car has come a long way and looks great! There were a lot of folks saying five years ago you would never recoup your investment but I think that math has changed in the last 5 years. I seriously think these super low numbers cars are, or will be soon, 6 figure cars. Congrats on getting through paint. Now the fun starts

Calling all engineers
It wasn't pretty. She never really got anything proper pulled together. One of her other professors felt like the teaching professor sort of left them hanging. It is what it is now. I told her "just get the diploma" and move on.

Transmission Swap?
6 speed is not a bolt in conversion. As these cars are getting more valuable, I would stick with bolt on / bolt off conversions. Any of the z car 5 speeds are basically a bolt in affair. Although driveshaft length can be an issue and transmission mount can be an issue. 240z front end conversion looks nice and is reversible. Same with the auto conversion and pedal box conversion. I would suggest you don't get rid of any of the automatic parts. So many young people can't drive a manual. I suspect auto cars will become more desirable in the future.

1977 280Z steering rack rebuild questions
The bearing should have some numbers on it. You can order or cross reference from that. The seal should also have some numbers on it but they may not be legible. I believe I found my steering rack seal at Rockauto Looks like Rockauto has it. Steering shaft worm gear seal SKF 5810. I didn't see the bearings

78 door alignment help
It's an interesting situation. The current project has the same cracks. The window frame is bolted to the inside shell of the door. So I am not sure it applies pressure to the outer skin in order to crack them apart. Anyone else have any theories?
