Fuel Rail Question/cant get it started
Are you removing the rubber boot before or after the AFM (air flow meter)? If you removed the boot after the AFM, the "brain" does not know there is any air going to the throttle body/intake so no run-run. Did you get ALL of the bad gas out of the fuel rail? Easy way to clear the rail is to remove the return line, stick it in a container, and turn on the fuel pump. That will also show if you have a blockage in the fuel line, rail, filter, return line. You will have a small residual amount of bad gas at the injectors, but that will clear quickly. Check your fuel pressure. Unfortunately, the lesson here is "Do NOT run an injected engine on bad gas"! It'll also kill the catalytic converter.

Hot-start issue with EFI - who has it, who doesn't
I've owned ZX's since 1979. I've never experienced the problem described. I live in Georgia where 100+ days are common. Mine: 1979 280ZX 2+2 bone stock 1979 280ZXR with mega-squirt, header, cold air intake, 60mm TB, JSK fuel rail, electric fans

Automatic weapons and RPG's might help!

AFM to Throttle body hose
You've probably found a cure for your prob, but... I had the same problem, a torn boot. Like you, I could not find a replacement, so I "engineered" it. I cleaned the area of the tear with acetone. I super glued as much of the tear as possible (maintaining the original shape). Then I coated the area (inside and out) with liquid rubber. Ta-Da...it worked!!!

Your Fuel Mileage???
I know there hasn't been any activity here since April, but... Drove to Nebraska and back to Georgia in August. Got 22-24 at highway speeds (80+) towing a pod trailer. I've got a T5 tranny, R200 LSD (3.90) and Megasquirt.

Let's show vintage racing pictures. I'll start.
- Cooling fans
Did this mod to my 280ZX a couple years ago. Bought the shroud mounted fans on EBay. I lucked out and everything worked great. The fans are mounted on a stock (albeit heavy duty) radiator.- Bobzed
You have probably cured your problem by now, but my 1979 developed the same symptoms after "cleaning" the engine bay. Looking for water in the TPS or dizzy cap.- Phantom Grip Limited Slip Install
Not long ago, I had an R200 diff laying around gathering spiders and wanted a LSD in my 280ZXR, so I went shopping on EBay. Found the Phantom Grip and figured "what-the-hell" and ordered it. After making many measurements and calculations and calling Phantom for reassurance, I disassembled the R200. The hardest and scariest part of the mod was the grinding of the gears to make room for the grip unit. Got every thing back together and it has been performing with no faults. Drove the car from Macon GA to Arnold NE and back (2600 miles) and participated in the Sand Hills Open Road Challenge with no problems. Standard open R200 Diff Phantom Grip Installed R200 LSD removed Phantom Grip R200 ready TA-DA!!!- Starting a new project...Subaru STI Differential swap into my Z
Drove to Nebraska in August for the Sand Hills Open Road Challenge, 2600 miles round trip...got between 22 to 24 at highway speeds (80+). Sure wish I had cruise control!!! And I was towing a trailer!!- Starting a new project...Subaru STI Differential swap into my Z
I've got a 280ZXR. I took an R200 and installed a Phantom Grip unit for LSD. Seems to work fairly decently. Wonder if the Wolf Creek CV's will work on a ZX....Gotta drop 'em a line and find out!!- [2013] What did you do to/with your Z today?
Finally got all of the bugs cleaned from the trip to the Sand Hills Open Road Challenge in August. 2600 miles round trip from Macon GA to Arnold NE. Was fun but... - Cooling fans
