white noise from rear diff area.
I have what could be described as a white noise coming from the rear end of my 72 240. soon as the car starts to roll anything over 5km/hr, it sounds like someone has left an old analogue radio on a hissy channel of static under the rear diff area. the noise is not loud and could easily be ignored with music or aggressive driving, but just slow cruising makes me wonder if there's a problem brewing under there. at first i thought it would be just the brake shoes slightly rubbing on the drums, but the sound doesnt change with brake pressure. I'm thinking i have a bearing in the rear end thats starting to get noisy. diff fluid is relatively new. any thoughts would be appreciated. is this noise normal in anyone else's 240?

Springs....Eibach oor Tokiko or what?
i went with the eibachs and blue tokico's. on my 72 240 I am happy with the ride and handling improvements. one thing however, I found also that the ride height in the rear was a little lower than the front. Personally, i kinda like that look. with the right pair of rims and rubber I find it gives the car a good stable appearance. just recently, i added a thicker front and new rear sway bar. It seems to have helped with the ride height a little bit. handles way better now also. just my .02$ i would recommend the eibachs and blue tokico's without hesitation.

Engine will only run above 4000 RPM. Carbs or timing?
ive driven up and down your road about six or seven times in the past couple weeks, hoping to maybe see the front of your car sticking out of a garage somewhere. not sure which house is yours. actually, beaton road isnt too bad of a cruise, if traffic is light. on tuesday we cruised by with a couple cars on our way to play hooky from work, out on mono road and hawkley valley road. cruised by but didnt see any sign of you at any of the homes. looking forward to seeing that beast leaving me in the dust soon. got a few parts from z therapy a couple months ago, very pleased with their product. it'll be worth the wait. i have the ztherapy videos if you would like to view them, let me know.

Letter stamped on end of cam?
i should add that i've read this,http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/cam/index.htm and couldnt tell you what the durations and angles would result in. anyone have any experience with what this cam might be like in comparison?

Letter stamped on end of cam?
Previously, someone told me to look on the end of the cam on my L26 engine, for a 'c'. apparently this cam had some different characteristics that would effect performance levels. well i had the chance to adjust valve lash the other evening and while i was in there i investigated the stamping on the end of the cam. It is stamped 'B' or 'D'.(letter is very lightly stamped so it's hard to identify, but i'm pretty sure it's a 'B' anyone have info on what this cam is and how it performs in comparison to others? thanks for any help

not a datsun, but what is this?
I think the cortina is close, but the bend lines on the side door and body panels are lower than the top of the wheel wells, Im thinking Vauxhall is correct.

just a quick thought? maybe it will help someone else think of something a little more practical// but, any way the vac advance could be activating too early.? try unplugging or pinching off the advance tube and turning it over.

To stripe or not to stripe????
from my cold canadian basement... I Say go with the stripes. negative or positive style, I think they both compliment the body shape. I`ve always liked those stripes,, and it`ll help with the ``hey buddy,,nice corvette`` or `hey buddy,, nice 280zx`comments.

240z rebuild / restoration right down to the shell
Really enjoying this thread. not sure why i dont stop reading and drive over for a visit since your only ten minutes away. anyways, dont feel bad about the rear bump stop issue. I actually did the very same thing two days ago. I had finished the complete front and back suspension and realized i still had two rear bump stops in the box. luckily, with the eibach springs you don't need a spring compressor to remove or install them, so i just disconnected the park brake cable and the half shafts, and dropped each strut down while still connected to the spindle pin location. a little "fidgetty" but went pretty quick. that's it, I'm coming over. call ya later today maybe.

Msa premium exhaust wont fit to manifold
OK, i searched the threads, and im hoping someone has a spread sheet memorized. that can help me out with some info here. I have an L26 in a 72 240. E88 head with E30 exhaust manifold. I ordered the msa premium exhaust system for stock header: SALE! MSA Premium Exhaust System, 70-72, 74 240Z-260Z (For Stock Manifold) Code: 15-6302 but the flange on the manilfold and the flange on the new exhaust have different stud locations whay gives?? Either MSA sent me the wrong exhaust piece by accident, OR This exhaust manifold i have is for a different year.(this info i cant find on forum search) can anyone help me out with wether or not the E30 manifold came on a 70-72,74 240z-260z ?? I can easily send some pics if that would help out. thanks for any help folks.

i need a picture, anyone?
i was almost set on a set of 195/70 r14 tires for my 1.5" lowered 240. but i found a tire that i might be interested in but only comes in 65 and 60 series aspect ratio does anyone have a picture of a 240 with the thinner profile tires on it, so i can get an idea of how they look in the wheel well. thanks for any help you folks can share. considering 195/60 r14 and 195/65 r14.

im thinking this item will fit well, but does anyone have experience with the Height of the airdam and possible 'grounding out'? my car is lowered 1.5", 240z. and im concerned this item might hang down too low. Motorsport! SALE! BRE Style Air Dam, Carbon Fiber, 70-8/74 240Z-260Z - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts thanks,

Why does the 260z get a bad rap.
I'm trying to decide if i got a raw deal or not. my car is a mid72 240, but had an FK crate motor from a 260z installed some time in the early 80's it has the round top su's and most of the smog stuff is removed. anyone have an idea what my 240 with a L26 would do against a stock 240??? seems to be a blast to drive, but having never driven a l24 powered car, I have nothing to compare to. I always did like the look of the 260's. IMO i thought the 260 interior looked great.
