Underside protection
Here in Michigan lots of salt is used. I don't use road toys until plenty of spring rain has washed the roads.

WTB your 240z steering wheel with non-repairable 'wood'
Thanks Siteunseen, the shift knob measurements would help. I'm building a 73 240 resto-rod. Basically a southwest 73 body, a rust bucket Michigan 72, and a rust bucket 81zx rolled into one. I have restored my stock steering wheel, but thought if I could get a 240 steering wheel frame. I would try wood working in the round.

Should I replace the dash
I think sitting in the sun with the windows closed, and UV light do more harm than being cold. One of my first ventures in the 70's was to bring rust free cars from Tucson. to Michigan, and take unbaked interiors, and sand free engines from Michigan to Tucson. Besides it's a 40+ year old Zcar dash might as well use it, it's going to crack sooner or later, if you use it or not. .

Options to Restore Plastic Panels
If you wrap your panels it's easier with leather. The leather can be pulled and stretched, vinyl can't.

Here comes the salt
Winter in Michigan. Freezing rain followed by hundreds of thousands of tons of salt. Followed by many inches of snow, followed by hundreds of thousands of tons of salt.

Head work
Anyone know of where I could get a head worked on in my general area of the world? I'm in southwest Michigan. I have an E-88 that's asking for bigger valves and more, you know the affliction.

a very fast '72
I live in South West Michigan. A 70's car or truck after 6 winters here would have plenty of rust, a Z with thin 70's Japanese steel of questionable quality at that time would pretty much be gone. Salt is cheap here road commissions use lots of it. Detroit loves it.

Beware Mr. Gasket fuel filters
I had that POS on one of my vineyard tractors. Had the same problem. Replaced it no more problems.
